Eastern Michigan 2019 Schedule
YPSILANTI, Mich. – Eastern Michigan head coach Chris Creighton is entering his sixth season in leading the Eagles football program and has made significant strides in changing the culture surrounding the program. With bowl invitations in two of the last three seasons, 2018 Raycom Media Camellia Bowl and 2016 Bahamas Bowl, Creighton has led Eastern Michigan to non-conference wins over Big Ten opponents in each of the last two consecutive seasons (Purdue, Rutgers) and the program’s overall record in the last three seasons in 19-19 overall, including 8-2 in the month of November, as the expectation of winning each week and attending a bowl game is expected.
The 2019 season opens with three consecutive road games at Coastal Carolina on Aug. 31, at Kentucky on Sept. 7 and at Illinois on Sept. 14. The Eagles open the home portion of their schedule with Central Connecticut State on Sept. 21 before entering MAC play for the rest of the regular season schedule. Eastern Michigan will have 45 letterwinners returning and 13 starters (6 offense, 4 defense, 3 specialists) from last year’s squad that finished 7-6 overall, including 5-3 in the MAC, and a 23-21 setback against Georgia Southern in the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl on Dec. 15, 2018.
Offensively, senior quarterback Mike Glass III brings a multi-dimension to the Eagles offense as he threw for 1,024 yards and nine touchdowns, while adding 412 yards rushing and six scores on the ground. Key targets include senior wide receiver’s Arthur Jackson, who collected 46 receptions for 592 yards and five touchdowns, and Mathew Sexton, who added 37 receptions for 419 yards and three scores. Senior running back Shaq Vann brings another threat to the running game as he rushed for 590 yards and five touchdowns last season.

McGill was named All-MAC Second Team last season and added 38 tackles, three interceptions and nine passes defensed. Calhoun was named All-MAC Third Team and ranked second on the team last season with 84 tackles, three interceptions and seven passes defensed, while Hoying also was named All-MAC Third Team and posted 69 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and two sacks in 2018.
