Bowling Green's Quintin Morris Named To 2019 Earl Campbell Award Watch List

TYLER, TEXAS – The seventh annual Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List was announced today at the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce and SPORTyler 14th Annual East Texas Kick-off Luncheon and representing the MAC is Bowling Green junior wide receiver Quintin Morris

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in FBS football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity; specifically, tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals. In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year college.

A native of Richmond, Texas, Morris caught 42 passes for 516 yards and seven touchdowns last season. Against Eastern Kentucky, Morris hauled in eight catches for 93 yards and two touchdowns, all career highs. He graduated from George Ranch High School in 2017, earning Offensive MVP at the Blue-Gray All American Bowl Southwest Super Regional Combine.

The Watch List will be narrowed to 16 semifinalists in November and then five finalists in December. They will be selected by broadcasters, commentators, journalists, fans, and previous winners. The finalists will be brought to Tyler for The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Banquet scheduled for January 15, 2020.

Earl Campbell graduated from John Tyler High School in Tyler, Texas before playing running back for the Texas Longhorns. He won the Heisman Trophy as a senior, rushing for 1,744 yards and 19 touchdowns. He was drafted first overall by the Houston Oilers, where he won Rookie of the Year honors in 1978 and led the league in rushing three times. The 1979 NFL MVP was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1991.
