Female Scholar Athlete of the Week: April 29th – May 5th, 2019
 
Kent State'sAndrea Scali, Softball - Pitcher (R-Freshman, 3.372, Integrated Social Studies)
Andrea Scali recorded the first perfect game by a Mid-American Conference pitcher since 2014 and just the second 7-inning perfect game in Kent State history. Scali also recorded a career-high 14 strikeouts, which is the second-most by a MAC pitcher this season, in her final start of the regular season. She added a scoreless inning of relief work during the second game of the doubleheader, totaling 8.0 innings and 15 strikeouts while allowing just 1 hit and 0 runs for the week. Scali now has 3 no-hitters this season.


Male Scholar Athlete of the Week: April 29th – May 5th, 2019
 
Eastern Michigan's Nick Jones, Baseball - Catcher (Junior,  3.85, Marketing)
Junior captain Nick Jones (Battle Creek, Mich.-Lakeview) led the Eastern Michigan offense in its four games against Youngstown State, May 1, and Western Michigan, May 3-5. Hitting in all four contests, Jones racked up six hits in 16 at-bats, good for a .375 batting average, and had multiple hits in two games. On top of his six hits, Jones tallied seven total bases, tied for the team lead on the week. Along with a .438 slugging percentage and .412 on-base percentage, Jones drove in two runs for the Eagles. A tremendously disciplined hitter, Jones tallied just two strikeouts on the week, and added one drawn walk. In his last 10 games, Jones is hitting .325 with 13 total hits, two extra-base hits, and four RBIs.
