ESPN Secures Dates & Times For 2019 Bowl Schedule
ESPN Annouces Dates and Times for Bowl Games
MAC to play in five primary bowl games plus potential of secondary bowl games
ESPN will televise 35 bowl games, including all 14 of ESPN Events’ owned and operated contests, over 17 days beginning in December and once again establishing itself as the home for postseason college football. The bowl mania will include the College Football Playoff Semifinals and the entire New Year’s Six, which will build up to the season’s grand finale: The College Football Playoff National Championship from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans on January 13.
The MAC will have five primary bowl games this 2019 Bowl Season with the potential of additional appearances with secondary bowl relationships with the Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit and ESPN owned and operated bowl games. The college football bowl season begins with two games on Friday, Dec. 20, including the MAC's appearance in the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl at 2:00 pm ET against Conference USA.
This season’s College Football Playoff Semifinals will be played on December 28, three days earlier than the originally scheduled date of New Year’s Eve. The date change to the last Saturday in December, which was announced in 2016 and began in practice last season, did not affect the date of the College Football Playoff National Championship, which remains on Monday, January 13, at 8 p.m. ET as originally scheduled.
The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl (4 p.m. or 8 p.m.) and PlayStation Fiesta Bowl (4 p.m. or 8 p.m.) will host this year’s CFP Semifinals, with the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic (noon) beginning the New Year’s Six slate earlier the same day. The Capital One Orange Bowl (8 p.m.) will be played on December 30 while the Rose Bowl Game Presented by Northwestern Mutual (5 p.m.) and Allstate Sugar Bowl (8:45 p.m.) are held in their traditional New Year’s Day time slots.
