The Kent State men's golf team looks to advance to its third consecutive NCAA Championship at the NCAA Pullman Regional this week. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is taking place Monday through Wednesday (May 13-15) at the par-70, 7,232-yard Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Wash.
The regional is one of six 54-hole preliminary events for the NCAA Championship finals. The low five teams and low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the NCAA Championship, scheduled for May 24-29 at The Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark. The Flashes, who are the No. 11 seed at the Pullman Regional, are returning to competition after they earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Golf Championship by winning the MAC Championship two weeks ago.
Kent State's lineup for the NCAA Pullman Regional will include seniors Bjarki Petursson and Gisli Sveinbergsson, junior Chris Doody, and sophomores Will Kurtz and Josh Gilkison. Freshman Julien Paltrinieri will travel as the team's alternate.
In addition, Senior Duncan McNeill will represent the University of Toledo men's golf program when he competes in the Louisville Regional hosted by the University of Louisville in Simpsonville, Ky. McNeill is the third Rocket to compete in a NCAA event as an individual. Chris Selfridge participated in regional play in 2013 and 2015, while Otto Black earned a spot in 2016. McNeill competed in the NCAA Regionals on two previous occasions - 2016 in Stillwater and 2017 in Austin - prior to transferring to Toledo from McNeese State before his junior year.
