MAC Women’s Tennis Singles Player of the Week
Christina Fuller, Toledo – Freshman, Newburgh, Ind. (Castle High School)
Toledo freshman Christina Fuller at No. 4 singles clinched a 4-3 victory over Buffalo in the regular season finale on Friday. On the No. 4 court Fuller dropped the first set against Hsin-Yuan Shih, 3-6. In the second set, Fuller fought for a five-point comeback, rising from a 1-4 deficit to take the second set 6-4, forcing a third. Down 1-4 in the third, Fuller fought to close the gap and clinched the win 7-6 (7-5). This is the first time since March 20, 2015 that the Rockets have defeated Buffalo. Fuller is a communications major.

Sophia Geier, Akron – Senior, Burgebrach, Germany (Clavius Gymnasium)
Akron senior Sophia Geier at No. 1 singles closed out MAC play undefeated in singles action. In the 4-3 road win at Ball State, the senior captain registered the 104th victory of her collegiate career with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 victory over Audrey Berger. Overall, Geier stands 27-4 in singles action, 19-1 in spring action, and a perfect 7-0 in MAC play, all at the No. 1 spot. She stands second on Akron’s career lists with 104 singles victories and 174 combined singles/doubles wins while her 70 doubles victories rank No. 11 on the career chart. Geier is pursuing her MBA.
Marharita-Sophia Tavpash, Bowling Green – Junior, Lviv, Ukraine (Lviv Linguistic Gymnasium)
Bowling Green junior Marharita-Sophia Tavpash at No. 2 singles achieved one of four Falcon victories in singles play on Sunday, April 21 against Western Michigan. Winning in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, respectively over Western's Denise Azcui, Tavpash played a crucial role in the 5-2 victory to close out the Falcons' season.
Chantal Martinez Blanco, Buffalo – Senior, San Juan, Puerto Rico
Buffalo senior Chantal Martinez Blanco at No. 1 singles dominated her match at against Deedee Leeabanchong of Toledo on Friday afternoon as Martinez Blanco dropped just two games in a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
Brindtha Ramasamy, Miami – Freshman, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Miami freshman Brindtha Ramasamy at No. 1 singles won her lone match over the weekend, and it came at a big moment as her 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 win over Western Michigan's Lyubomirova clinched the 4-2 win for Miami along with the MAC Regular Season Championship. Ramasamy improves to 13-4 overall on the year with the win.

Sophia Geier, Akron – Senior, Burgebrach, Germany (Clavius Gymnasium)
Anna Uljanov, Akron – Sophomore, Schweinfurt, Germany (Olympia Morata Gymnasium)
Akron senior Sophia Geier and sophomore Anna Uljanov at No. 2 doubles closed out MAC play with huge victory that earned the Zips the double point in the 4-3 win at Ball State. The duo saved two match points and came back to take a 7-5 victory over Audrey Berger and Rebecca Herrington, giving Akron the doubles point. Overall, Geier and Uljanov stand 15-6 doubles action and 12-6 this spring, 3-2 in MAC play. Geier is pursuing her MBA, while Uljanov is a sport studies major.

Ayumi Sasaki, Bowling Green – Junior, Montreal, Canada
Bowling Green senior Polina Radeva and junior Ayumi Sasaki at No. 2 doubles captured their third consecutive doubles win in MAC play on Sunday, April 21. The duo defeated Western Michigan's Lyubomirova and Tjon-a-joe, by a score of 6-1. The Bowling Green duo secured the first of two doubles wins for the Falcons, leading them to an early 1-0 lead for the match, that would set up a 5-2 victory for the Falcons in their season finale.
Brindtha Ramasamy, Miami – Freshman, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Milana Lysova, Miami – Sophomore, Almaty, Kazakhstan
Miami freshman Brindtha Ramasamy and sophomore Milana Lysova at No. 1 doubles won their sole match of the weekend, helping to propel Miami to a MAC Regular Season Title in the season finale. They defeated Western Michigan's Fevralev/Tiraspolsky 7-5 at first doubles, clinching a crucial doubles point for Miami en route to a victory.
Thalita Rodrigues, Toledo – Senior, Brasilia, Brazil (Instituto de Educacao)
Kiersten Carlson, Toledo – Freshman, Carmel, Ind. (Carmel High School)
Toledo senior Thalita Rodrigues and freshman Kiersten Carlson at No. 2 doubles defeated Buffalo’s Emel Abibula/Arianna Paules Aldrey in a 4-3 victory over Buffalo on Friday. Rodrigues/Carlson’s 6-3 win on the No. 2 court helped the Rockets clinch the doubles point and go into singles play with a 1-0 advantage over the Bulls. Rodrigues/Carlson have gone 9-3 overall and 4-2 in MAC play this season on the No. 2 court. Rodrigues is a sports management major, while Carlson is pre-med.
