Ball State // Ball State Challenge
On a near picture perfect day at University Track in the Briner Sports Complex, the sun was shining and so was the Ball State track & field team Saturday afternoon on the second and final day of the Ball State Challenge. As a team, the Cardinals tallied five event victories, 14 top five finishes and captured 17 personal-best performances in front of a healthy home crowd in its first of two home meets on the year.

Tennessee Relays // Golden Grizzles Invite
Nadia Williams broke a program record, Siobhan Szerencsits tied a program record, and three Chippewas notched first-place finishes for the Central Michigan track & field team at the Tennessee Relays and Oakland Golden Grizzles Invitational this weekend. "I think we made stride in the right direction," CMU director of track & field Jenny Swieton said. "I think we're starting to get that snowball rolling again, especially with the school record last weekend, school records this weekend, and we're starting to get that momentum back."

Eastern Michigan Men // Tennessee Relays
The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team concluded its efforts at the Tennessee Relays hosted by the University of Tennessee Saturday, April 13. The Eagles competed in the High Jump, Discus Throw, Triple Jump, 4x100m, 4x400m, and 4x800m Relay events. The Green and White's best relay finish of the day came from the 4x400m effort's of seniors Elijah Barber and Tyler Underwood, junior Terrell Posada, and sophomore Owen Richardson, placing second overall with a time of 3:11.82.

Eastern Michigan Women // Tennessee Relays
The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team finished competition at the Tennessee Relays hosted by the University of Tennessee Saturday, April 13. The day saw EMU student-athletes compete in the Discus Throw, Triple Jump, 4x100m, 4x400m, and 4x800m Relay events. "We did well in some areas and other areas could have been better," noted Head Coach Sue Parks when asked about the meet's outcomes. "This next month will be all about putting it together and firing on all cylinders as a team as we build for the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championship meet. We still have a lot of work to do."

Kent State // Tennessee Relays
Trevor Detillion captured his second men's discus throw title in as many weeks on Saturday to highlight several strong performances by the Kent State track and field team on the final day of the Tennessee Relays. Detillion unleashed a throw of 183'-5" on his final attempt to win the event. The redshirt junior led the competition following the prelims but sat in second-place after Tennessee's Joseph Maxwell recorded a throw of 178'-4" on his fourth attempt. After finishing runner-up in the discus at the season-opening Raleigh Relays, Detillion won the event a week ago at the Northeast Ohio Quad with a personal-best throw of 185'-8".

Miami // Ball State Challenge
In a meet where the RedHawks experimented with some different start lists, the Miami University track and field team still posted a bevy of strong marks at the Ball State Challenge in Muncie, Ind. Several of the RedHawks' usual suspects continued to lead the way, albeit in some different events. While she didn't run in arguably her strongest event in the 400m, junior Olivia Bechtel still put up some of the meet's biggest highlights. In her first 100m run of the 2019 outdoor year, Bechtel posted a personal-best 11.87 to take second. She followed that up with a 24.02 mark and a win in the 200m. In the 800m, Emily Hooker grabbed the win with a 2:13.92 that shattered her personal record while Kalliopi Kountouri also hit the podium in her first ever collegiate run in the event.

Northern Illinois // Musco Twilight
The Northern Illinois University women's track and field team earned five event victories in cold conditions at Iowa's Musco Twilight on Saturday evening. Junior Remy Amarteifio (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) was part of two first-place finishes, taking top honors in the 100-meter hurdles while being part of the winning 4x100-meter relay. "Under brisk conditions our athletes competed well," said NIU Director of Track and Field Connie Teaberry. "Times and marks were not what we were looking for, but the focus and efforts were on point. This competition tested the maturity of the team and their willingness to fight regardless of the weather. ?

Ohio // Charlotte Invitational
Ohio track and field finishes day two of the Charlotte Invitational after a full day of scheduled events. In the discus throw freshman Autumn Mohan would end up taking a third place finish after recording a throw of 44.11. Senior Gaza Odunaiya (Athens, Ohio) would record a seventh place finish with a throw of 42.97m. In the 4x100 relay, the team of redshirt senior Courtney Guiley, sophomore Olivia Brewer, redshirt freshman Abby Summers, and senior Thelma Agyekum finished eighth with a time of 49.70.

Toledo // Ball State Challenge
The University of Toledo women's track and field team wrapped competition at the Ball State Challenge with 13 top-10 finishes, 20 personal-bests, and two MAC automatic qualifying marks. "We had a pretty good weekend at Ball State, with strong performances across event groups," said head coach Linh Nguyen. "The throwers always perform well here. That was true again this weekend, with the personal bests and top finishes, led by Katie Dewey, who had a very good shot-put result."

Western Michigan // Ball State Challenge
The Western Michigan track and field team's group of young throwers shined as WMU wrapped up the first day of competition at the Ball State Challenge on Friday. Sophomore Aniya Davis led the way in the hammer throw with a personal-best distance of 159' 8" (48.67m). It was the second time this season she had a personal-best in the hammer, this time placing sixth in the event. Taylor Eaton finished just behind her in eighth place after throwing a distance of 153' 9" (46.88m).
