OXFORD, Ohio -- The Miami RedHawks captured their first Mid-American Conference Men's Swimming & Diving Championship since 2006 on Thursday night.
Miami compiled 957.5 total points throughout the four-day event, while Missouri State finished second with 899 points and Southern Illinois was third with 606.5 points. Evansville (339.5), and Ball State (320.5) rounded out the event.
2019 Freshman Swimmer of the year, Pawel Krawczyk started off the final evening by claiming the 1650 freestyle title with a time of 15.07.57.
Krawczyk was followed up by teammates Conner Ripp and Lucas Paloschi, who took the 200 Backstroke Championship title and 100-Free title respectively.
The host Miami RedHawks won the 200 Breaststroke event when sophomore Noah Barr touched the edge of the tank in 1:57.35 to earn the gold medal.
The 200-Fly was won my Miami sophomore and 2019 Outstanding Swimmer of the Year Iago Mousalem. Iago took the title with a new MAC Championship record time of 1:43.30.
The 3-meter diving title was won by Harrison Moncino of Miami with a score of 354.05. Moncino won the 1-meter dive event on Tuesday evening.
The RedHawks won the final race of the evening as the relay team of Diego Valentim, Nic Wamsley, Nick Ward, and Iago Moussalem claimed the 400 Free Relay in a time of 2:56.54. Missouri State finished in second (2:57.46) and Southern Illinois took home third (2:59.88).
