MAC Announces Women's Basketball Players of the Week

East Division
Cierra Dillard, Buffalo, Guard
Senior – Rochester, New York/Gates Chili

Buffalo senior guard Cierra Dillard averaged 33.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game on the week to help lead the Bulls to big wins at Ohio and against Miami (OH). At Ohio, Dillard led all scorers with 35 points to go along with four rebounds, four assists and two steals. She also scored her 2,000th career point on a free throw in the fourth quarter. Against Miami (OH), the senior had a game-high 31 points to go along with eight assists, six rebounds and three steals. Dillard ranks second in the nation in scoring (25.5 ppg), first in free throws made (186), second in free throws attempted (233) and third in final points (688).
 
West Division
Reyna Frost, Central Michigan, Forward
Senior – Reese, Michigan/Reese

Central Michigan senior forward Reyna Frost continued her dominance this past week in pair of victories over Ball State and Eastern Michigan. The Reese, Mich., native posted two more double-doubles bringing her season total to 25. She averaged 23.5 points per game and 14.5 rebounds in the two-game stretch. On Wednesday, Frost poured in 26 points on 11-of-19 shooting with 15 boards. On Saturday's MAC West clinching trip to EMU, she finished with 21 points on 8-of-13 from the floor and 15 rebounds.
 
 
Other Nominees:
Corrione Cardwell, Eastern Michigan, Guard
R-Sophomore – Cleveland, Ohio/New Tech East

Redshirt sophomore Corrione Cardwell turned in another strong week to pace Eastern Michigan, Feb. 27-March 2. Cardwell averaged 14.5 points per, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.5 steals, and 1.0 block in a stat-stuffing week for the Eagles. Cardwell dropped 11 points at NIU, Feb. 27, before adding a team-best 18-point effort against Central Michigan, March 2.
 
Andrea Cecil, Bowling Green, Forward
Junior – Oak Harbor, Ohio/Oak Harbor

Bowling Green junior forward Andrea Cecil led the Falcons in scoring and rebounding last week, averaging a double-double with 23.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game. She also had 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game and shot 50.0% (17-of-34) from the field and a perfect 100% (11-for-11) from the free-throw line. On Wednesday, Cecil led the Falcons with 24 points and pulled down a game- and career-high 14 rebounds in an 83-73 loss to Akron. She also tied her career high with five assists vs. the Zips. Cecil was 10-of-16 from the floor, hitting her only three-point attempt, in that game. Then, on Saturday, Cecil had 23 points and 11 rebounds (along with four assists and three steals) in BG's 62-49 win over Kent State. It was her sixth double-double of the season and her second in as many games. She has scored 20 or more points on 11 occasions this season, including each of the last three games. Cecil is averaging 21.6 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists over the last seven games. During that time, she has shot 55.6 percent (55-of-99) from the floor, 45.0% (9-of-20) from the arc and 91.4% (32-of-35) from the free-throw line.
 
Asiah Dingle, Kent State, Guard
Freshman – Stoughton, Massachusetts/Archbishop Williams

Asiah Dingle scored nine of her game-high 19 points in the fourth period to help Kent State snap Miami’s 11-game winning streak on Wednesday night. Dingle and the Golden Flashes’ defense held the RedHawks to their second-lowest scoring game of the season. She added a team-high 10 points Saturday at Bowling Green. The Stoughton, Mass. native ranks second among MAC freshmen with an average of 13.0 points per game during the conference season.
 
Shaunay Edmonds, Akron, Guard
Junior – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania/Seton La Salle

Shaunay Edmonds turned in her best performance of the season and one of her bests weeks of the 2018-19 campaign as the Akron women's basketball team traveled to Bowling Green and hosted Ohio. Last week, the Zips starting point guard averaged 23 points, dropped 3.5 assists per game, grabbed 3.5 rebounds per contest, and ripped 1.5 steals per match-up. From the floor, Edmonds shot just under .500 from the floor going 17-for-36 (47.2-percent) while hitting on a perfect 8-for-8 free throws and 4-for-11 from long range. It was a career night for Edmonds as the Zips point guard led Akron to an 83-73 victory over Bowling Green. Edmonds scored a career-high 33 points to go with four rebounds, three steals, and two assists. The junior shot 12-for-21, hit three three-pointers, and all six of her free throw attempts. Edmonds scored in double figures against Ohio for the 13th time this season after posting a 13 point, five assists, and three rebound performance in 27 minutes of action.
 
Cece Hooks, Ohio, Guard
Sophomore – Dayton, Ohio/Thurgood Marshall

Cece Hooks tied her career high of 31 points in Ohio's 81-71 win over Akron on the road on Saturday. Hooks previously had 31 points in Ohio's win over Purdue.  Hooks had never made more than one three in a game and was 4-of-6 from behind the arc. Hooks earned her second double-double of the season and third of her career with 10 rebounds. Hooks added three assists, two blocks and two steals in the victory over the Zips. For the week, the Dayton, Ohio native averaged 16 points, six boards and two assists.
 
Mikayla Voigt, NIU, Guard
Senior – Slinger, Wisconsin/Kettle Moraine Lutheran

Voigt averaged 23 points per game this week as NIU split games with Eastern Michigan and Toledo. The senior led NIU with a game-high 27 points in the Huskies' 70-60 win over Eastern Michigan Wednesday night. It was her 12th game this season of at least 20 points. On Saturday, Voigt led NIU with 19 points and a game-high four steals at Toledo on March 2. In the game, Voigt passed Courtney Woods for seventh all-time on the NIU career scoring chart with 1,665 points.
 
Kaayla McIntyre, Toledo, Center
Senior – Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy

Senior Kaayla McIntyre averaged a team-high 18.0 points, a squad-best 9.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and a team-best 1.5 rejections in a pair of Toledo home victories last week. McIntyre converted a squad-high 69.6 percent (16-of-23) from the field in a team-tying best 34.5 minutes in wins over MAC West Division rivals Western Michigan and Northern Illinois. The 2017-18 third-team All-MAC selection opened the week with 14 points, five caroms, five helpers and one rejection in a season-high 36 minutes against the Broncos on Wednesday. Three days later in her final regular-season home game, the Toledo native tallied a game-high 22 points, a contest-best 13 boards and a game-high two blocked shots in 33 minutes. Dating back to last season, McIntyre has registered double-digit points in 40-consecutive games.   
                                                               
Deja Wimby, Western Michigan, Guard
Senior – Fort Wayne, Indiana/Snider

Senior point guard Deja Wimby averaged 19 points and seven assists to lead Western Michigan to a 1-1 week, dropping a road contest at Toledo prior to a big win over Ball State. At Toledo on Wednesday, Wimby was one-point away from her career-high total with a season-high 24 points, tying her career-high with 10 field goals made. She followed that performance on Saturday nearly tallying a triple-double with 14 points, a career-high 11 assists, and eight rebounds.
