INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A 22-2 run to end the second quarter allowed host Butler to pull away, as Kent State's season ended with a 70-52 loss in the second round of the WNIT on Saturday evening.

The Golden Flashes (20-13) broke the program's 25-year-old record for three-point field goals made in a season. Kent State sank eight shots from long range to finish the season with 241 three-pointers. Lindsey Thall splashed a pair of trifectas to give her 66 during her freshman campaign, which ranks third on the Flashes' single-season list.

Freshman Asiah Dingle led Kent State with 13 points, three assists and three steals. Senior Alexa Golden added 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

The Flashes executed the defensive game plan to perfection over the first 13 minutes of the contest, holding their host to 3-of-14 shooting while forcing 10 turnovers. Junior Ali Poole scored the first five points in the second quarter, and redshirt junior Megan Carter added a three-pointer to give Kent State its largest lead of the night, 14-8.

Butler then made 22 of its final 32 shots to finish with a season-best 54.3 field goal percentage. Whitney Jennings led all scorers with 23 points, while Kristen Spolyar went 4-of-5 from downtown and finished with 22.

Kent State recorded its first 20-win season since 2009-10 and earned the program's first-ever WNIT victory on Thursday, 64-59, at Green Bay.
