2019 NCAA WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIPS DAY ONE RESULTS
Six MAC Wrestlers Advance To Friday's Quarterfinals
PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Six MAC wrestlers advanced to Friday's Quarterfinals of the 2018 NCAA Wrestling Championships. Leading the way were four Missouri Tigers and one wrestler each from Central Michigan and Old Dominion.
Representing the MAC advancing to Quarterfinals are four Missouri Tigers led by John Erneste (133), Jaydin Eierman (141), Brock Mauller (149) and Daniel Lewis (174). Also advancing to Quarterfinals are Larry Early (157) of Old Dominion and Matt Stencel (285) of Central Michigan. The MAC is represented at the 2019 NCAA Wrestling Championships in Pittsburgh with 31 wrestlers competing in this year's championships.

Keller and Perry Advance at NCAA Championships
PITTSBURGH, PA – University at Buffalo wrestlers Troy Keller and Brett Perry each advanced to Friday at the NCAA Championships at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh on Thursday. Both Keller and Perry dropped their opening match, but won their first consolation bout. In total, the Bulls had five wrestlers competing in the first day of the NCAA Championships. After some tough draws, Keller and Perry were the only UB wrestlers to advance to Friday action.

Stencel In Quarterfinals; Hildebrandt, Parks Remain Alive At NCAA Championships
PITTSBURGH – Matt Stencel is in the quarterfinals and two of his Central Michigan teammates kept their All-America dreams alive after Day 1 of the NCAA Wrestling Championships at PPG Arena. Stencel is scheduled to wrestle No. 1 seed Derek White of Oklahoma State on Friday morning in a quarterfinal at 285 pounds. The sophomore from Oregon, Ohio, ran his win streak to 18 matches with two victories on Friday.

McNally & Rooney Look to Stay Alive Thursday Night
PITTSBURGH - Kent State's Andrew McNally earned a second day of competition at the 2019 NCAA Championships with a Thursday night victory in the consolation bracket. McNally blanked Bob Coleman of Oregon State 6-0. Teammate Tim Rooney dropped a pair of matches Thursday at PPG Paints Arena. In front of 18,000 fans, McNally remained in control throughout three periods in his evening matchup. With 30 seconds remaining in the first, the sophomore 184-pounder blasted forward with a clean double leg takedown and held Coleman down for the rest of the period. McNally then held Coleman down for all two minutes of the third period. Up 2-0 to start the third, McNally escaped and converted another shot, this time a single leg.

MizzouWrestling Advances Six in the Championship Bracket, Sits Sixth After First NCAA Session
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Mizzou Wrestling advanced four wrestlers into the quarterfinals during session II of the 2019 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships Thursday night (March 21) at PPG Paints Arena. With the four wrestlers advancing to Friday morning's quarterfinals, and four grapplers still alive in the wrestlebacks, Mizzou has eight of its nine tournament qualifiers still alive. After two sessions, Mizzou ranks sixth in the team competition, despite losing a team point for a control of mat area violation.
Into the quarterfinals are RS senior John Erneste (133), RS junior Jaydin Eierman (141), true freshman Brock Mauller (149) and RS senior Daniel Lewis (174). Erneste is into the quarters for the first time in three NCAA appearances. Eierman is in the quarters for the third straight season and Lewis has advanced that far in all four years of his career. He looks to become the program's third-ever four-time All-American Friday.

Bryce West Picks Up a Victory at NCAAs
PITTSBURGH – The NCAA Championships run of the Northern Illinois University wrestling duo of Brit Wilson and Bryce West came to an end, but not without experiencing some success at PPG Paints Arena Thursday. The redshirt freshmen combined to go 1-4 in their matches on the day, with West scoring a victory for NIU. A native of Solon, Iowa, West lost his opening bout to No. 3 seed Spencer Lee of Iowa by tech fall, 18-0, but bounced back in the pigtail wrestlebacks. West earned a 10-7 win over Willie Girard of Bloomsburg, an opponent he defeated, 6-5, on Feb. 2. However, his Championships run ended with a first period fall at the hands of Iowa State's Alex Mackall.

Bobcats Complete Day One Of 2019 NCAA Championships
PITTSBURGH -- The Ohio wrestling team wrapped up day one of the 2019 NCAA Championships today at PPG Paints Arena.
Senior Cameron Kelly (Bellbrook, Ohio) will compete for the Bobcats in wrestle-back action on Friday (March 22) with his hopes of becoming an All-American still alive. Kelly, the No. 12 seed at 141 pounds, fell to Missouri redshirt junior Jaydin Eierman, the No. 5 seed, by a 10-8 decision in the round of 16. Kelly will face Wisconsin redshirt junior Tristan Moran in the wrestle-back second round.

Early Advances to Quarterfinals; McGee and Perry in Wrestlebacks After Day One at NCAA Championships
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – After winning his two bouts on Thursday, Larry Early advances to the 157-pound quarterfinals of the 2019 NCAA Wrestling Championships, where he will face No. 2 Tyler Berger of Nebraska on Friday morning in Session Three. Sophomore Michael McGee and Sa’Derian Perry fell into the wrestlebacks after second round losses. In his opening bout, Early did not allow Quincy Monday of Princeton to score a point against him as he took him down by a 10-0 major decision. During the round of 16, Early escaped and took down No. 10 Steven Bleise in the final period to defeat him 3-2. On Friday, Early will take on No. 2 seeded Berger, who is 28-3 this season.

Ruffin, McKiernan Compete at NCAA Championships
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Justin Ruffin and Colton McKiernan competed in the 2019 NCAA Division I Championships today. Ruffin (18-11) scored 0.5 team points. as he lost to Josh Humphreys (Lehigh), Dec 6-0 and won by decision over Joshua McClure (North Carolina) Dec 7-0. At 285 lbs., McKiernan lost by decision to Jordan Wood (Lehigh), 6-4.
