Akron Captures Sixth Consecutive Swimming and Diving Title

AKRON, Ohio –
 The host Akron Zips earned its sixth-straight MAC swimming and diving title Saturday in Akron, Ohio. The Zips tallied 867 points during the meet, which broke their record last year of the highest total ever at a MAC Championship with an eight-team field.

Eastern Michigan senior Delaney Duncan was selected as the prestigious Most Outstanding Swimmer and Akron freshman Sarah Watson was named Freshman Swimmer of the Year. 

Bowling Green junior Talisa Lemke earned 2019 Most Outstanding Diver after winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving titles. 
 
Head coach Brian Peresie was named the 2018 MAC Coach of the Year for the sixth consecutive year. 

Eastern Michigan diving coach Buck Smith earned the 2019 Diving Coach of the Year Award.
 
At the end of the four-day event, the Zips claimed all five relay MAC titles in the 200 medley relay, 800 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay, 400 medley relay, and the 400 freestyle relay.

Eastern Michigan finished the 2019 MAC Championships as the runner-up with 583 points, followed by Buffalo in third place with 502 points.
