Miami, Ohio, Kent State and Toledo Accepted for WNIT

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference will have four teams competiting in the 2019 Women's NIT; Kent State, Miami, Ohio and Toledo.
Kent State will be making their fifth WNIT appearance, including the second under the leadership of third-year head coach Todd Starkey. Kent State lost to eventual champion Michigan, 67-60, in the opening round of the 2017 tournament.
Miami finished the season with a 23-8 overall record and a 13-5 conference record. The RedHawks return to the WNIT for the second-consecutive season. Miami reached 20 wins in back-to-back seasons for the first time since the 1980's and put together an 11-game win streak, matching the fifth-longest win streak in program history.
Ohio Women's Basketball is 27-5 and is No. 34 in the latest RPI. Ohio made it to the Mid-American Conference Championship Game and won the MAC East regular season crown after going 14-4 during conference play and a perfect 11-0 in non-conference action. The Bobcats are making an appearance in the WNIT for the second time in program history, and Ohio is 2-1 in the tournament all-time. Ohio made the WNIT in 2016, taking down Marshall and Virginia Tech at home before falling to Temple on the road in the round of 16.
Toledo enters the post-season with a 20-11 overall record and an 11-7 league mark to finish second in the MAC West Division. Senior Kaayla McIntyre, sophomore Nakiah Black, senior Mikaela Boyd and junior Mariella Santucci lead Toledo offensively, scoring 16.3, 10.7, 9.6 and 9.4 points per game, respectively. McIntyre earned second-team All-MAC honors, while Boyd captured honorable mention accolades. A season ago, the Rockets advanced to the second round of the Postseason WNIT with a 64-50 home victory against Horizon League member Wright State (March 16). UT's season came to an end with a 68-66 road setback at Big Ten member Michigan State (March 19).
