Oats Named As Finalist For 2019 Werner Ladder Naismith Coach of the Year Award

ATLANTA (March 11, 2019) – Today, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced the semifinalists for the 2019 Werner Ladder Naismith Coach of the Year Award, which includes 11 candidates due to ties in the voting process. Buffalo head coach Nate Oats was selected as one of the 11 candidates and is one of seven coaches looking to receive their first ever Werner Ladder Naismith Coach of the Year honor. 

Oats has led the Bulls to a 28-3 season, and a 16-2 mark in league play.  The 28 wins are already the most in school history and the most ever accomplished in the regular season.

Oats and the Bulls are currently 18th in the AP Poll and 16th in the latest NET rankings release by the NCAA.  The Bulls have picked up wins at then #13 West Virginia this season as well as scoring their first ever victory at the Carrier Dome with a 71-59 victory over Syracuse.

The four finalists for the Werner Ladder Naismith Trophy for Men’s College Coach of the Year will be announced on March 20. Fans will be able to support their favorite coach by visiting naismithtrophy.com/vote between March 22-April 3, to cast their ballot, and the fan vote will account for five percent of the overall final vote. Then, on April 7, 2019, the 2019 Werner Ladder Naismith Trophy for Men’s College Coach of the Year will be awarded at the Naismith Awards Brunch presented by Mortenson, during the Final Four in Minneapolis.
