Untimely errors were the Bowling Green State University softball team's undoing on Friday (March 1), as the Falcons dropped a pair of games in the Gaucho Classic in Santa Barbara, Calif. BGSU fell, 1-0, to LIU Brooklyn, before losing an 11-3, five-inning contest to California.

Freshman Shannon Steinhit two home runs and drove in four runs on Friday as the Chippewas opened their Spring Break trip with a 3-2 victory over St. John's and a 9-1 win over Siena.

TUCSON, Ariz. – Kent State (6-8) fell twice to nationally ranked competition at the Wildcat Invitation on Friday in Tucson. The Flashes fell to #23 Minnesota (9-5) 12-1 and #12 Arizona (11-5) 10-0.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Miami University softball team (7-5) split the first day of the Lipscomb Tournament on Friday. The RedHawks began the day with a 4-6 loss against Appalachian State before beating Eastern Illinois by a 3-1 margin.

DURHAM, N.C. -- The Ohio softball team returned to action on Friday, March 1 at the first day of the Duke/N.C. State Invitational. The Bobcats picked up an 8-5 victory over Charleston Southern before the Bobcats game against Mississippi State was stopped in the bottom of the fifth inning due to rain. The Bobcats and Bulldogs are tentatively scheduled to resume that game on Saturday (March 2) at 6 p.m.

CLEARWATER, Fla.- Western Michigan softball began its 13-game road trip in Florida on Friday and picked up the first win of the season, defeating Incarnate Word, 2-0. The Broncos faced Iowa earlier in the afternoon, falling 6-1.
