BGSU's Fahey Named MAC Golfer of the Week
Erin Fahey, Bowling Green
Senior, Austin, Texas (Vandegrift)
Erin Fahey, a senior from Austin, Texas, played a key role as the BGSU women's golf team had a historic week. Bowling Green claimed championships at both the Spring Cup Challenge (Feb. 2) and Mid-American Match Play Challenge (Feb. 4-5). Both tournaments were match play-style events, and Fahey did not lose a single match. The senior won a foursome and four-ball match, while going undefeated in singles. Fahey went 4-0 in singles matches, while tying the only other singles match she competed in. BGSU has now tied the program record for championships in a single season with three.

Danielle Nicholson, Akron
Senior, Geneva, Ohio (Geneva)
Senior Danielle Nicholson (Geneva, Ohio) led Akron to a third-place finish with a 2-0-1 overall record. Nicholson posted a 4&3 win in the quarter final match against Illinois State’s Emma Sutton which helped propel the Zips (3-2 win) into the semifinals. During the semifinal round, Nicholson and top-seeded Florida Gulf Coast’s Laura Edmonds played to an all-square draw after 18 holes. The Zips fell 3-1-1, advancing to the third/fourth round match against Northern Illinois. Nicholson defeated NIU's Lauren Ingle by a convincing 6&5, securing the first three holes and finishing the first nine holes with a 5up advantage. Two holes later on the 11th played hole, Nicholson added a hole to the total and kept the 6up advantage through 13 holes where the match ended.
Preaw Sripatrprasite, Eastern Michigan
Sophomore, Bangkok, Thailand-Siam International
Sophomore Preaw Sripatrprasite paced the EMU attack in Florida, posting a 4-0 record that included a commanding 7&6 win over Purdue Fort Wayne, a 4&3 decision against Bowling Green, and a 3&2 victory over WMU. She added a 1 up win over her opponent from eventual tournament champion, Bowling Green. EMU finished the event in fifth-place after advancing past No. 5 Illinois State on tiebreakers and downing No. 7 Western Michigan, 3.5-1.5, on the final day. The finish was the Eagles' best at the event since posting back-to-back runner-up showings in 2015 and 2016.
Karoline Stormo, Kent State
Junior, TVEDESTRAND, NORWAY
Junior Karoline Stormo led the Flashes over the weekend at the UCF Challenge with her 10-under par 206 score. Stormo shot the team's lowest score in the final round as she only had one bogey on the day. The junior shot six birdies six birdies in the final round, bringing her tournament total to 15. Her 10-under score helped give the Flashes their fifth-straight top-2 finish of the season. This is Stormo's third tournament placing in the top-3. On the year, she is averaging a 71.53 and has carded five rounds in the 60's, and nine rounds for par or better. Currently, Stormo is ranked the 33rd in the country.
Marissa Balish, Ohio
Junior, Allison Park, Pa. (Hampton Talbot)
Junior Marissa Balish let the Bobcats this weekend ad Ohio opened play for the 2019 spring season. A the 2019 Spring Challenge Cup against Bowling Green, Balish, paired with Nicole Smiley in the the first two rounds, fell to Julia Durkin & Sammi Blackburn, 4&3 in the first round, but came back to defeat the Falcon duo, 1 UP in the next round. In the individual rounds, that were shortened to nine holes due to rain, Balish finished all square against Nichole Cox. Then on Feb. 4-5 at the 209 Mid-American Match Play Challenge at Lakewood Ranch Country Club, Balish would win all three of her matchups. On Feb. 4 against Central Michigan, Balish would defeat Holly Hines, 2&. Later in the day, Balish would then defeat Morehead State's Ana Diequez, 2&1. Balish would return to action on Feb. 5, finishing her last round by defeating Purdue Fort Wayne's Emma Shroeder, 3&2. Balish's resulted helped the Bobcats defeat Fort Wayne, 2-1-2 during the final day of competition.
Jasmine Chee, Western Michigan
Junior, Hong Kong
Chee was WMU's top golfer at the Mid-American Match Play Challenge, finishing the weekend with a 3-1-0 record. Chee opened the tournament with a 5&4 over Morehead State's Connolly to help the Broncos go 5-0. Chee won 4&3 against Northern Illinois' Anderson in WMU's loss to the Huskies. On Tuesday she started the day off winning 4&2 in WMU's 3-2 win over Central Michigan before suffering her lone loss of the weekend against Eastern Michigan.
