MAC Men's Swimmer of the Week
Nic Wamsley, Miami 
Freshman, Pacific, Mo. 
 
Freshman Nic Wamsley helped lead the Miami men to a convincing 239-55 win over Xavier on Senior Day. He won three events on the day. Wamsley swept the sprint freestyle competition, winning both the 50 free (20.88) and the 100 free (45.96). He also was on the winning 400 free relay team (3:03.79), beating the runner up by over 2.2 seconds. Wamsley finished as part of the 400 medley relay team (3:24.53).
 
MAC Women's Swimmer of the Week
Camila Lins Mello, Miami      
Freshman, Belo Horizonte, Brazil (Izabela Hendrix)
 
Freshman Camila Lins Mello helped lead Miami to a dominating 234-56 win against Xavier on Senior Day. Lins Mello won all four events she competed in, sweeping sprint and middle distance freestyle. She won the 200 free (1:47.66) by almost 4.5 seconds, 50 free (23.57) by over 0.6 seconds and 100 free (50.48) by over 1.4 seconds. Lins Mello was also on the winning 400 medley relay team (3:48.65), beating the runner ups by over five seconds.

Swam a time of 9:34.50 in the 1000-free to take first. The closest competitor finished 22 seconds later. Won the 500-free with a time of 4:39.66. Top-five MAC times in the 200-back and 400-IM. Second-team All-MAC honoree as a junior.

Talisa Lemke, Bowling Green
Junior, Berlin, Germany
 
Against Akron and Buffalo, Lemke totaled three wins and one second place finish, giving the Falcons 31 points for the meets. The Akron meet was the second consecutive meet that she won both dive events. 
 
Sadie Fazekas, Akron
Senior, Windsor, Ontario (Sandwich HS)      
 
Senior Sadie Fazekas won three individual events and was a member of three winning relay teams to help propel Akron to two MAC dual victories over Bowling Green and Ohio. Against Bowling Green, Fazekas finished first in the 200 IM (2:04.90) and 100 freestyle (51.97). She also swam the second leg of the 200 freestyle relay that placed first with a time of 1:32.65. In a 201-96 win over Ohio, the senior was a member of both the 200 medley relay (1:43.25) and 400 freestyle relay teams. Fazekas swam to a victory in the 50 freestyle in 23.38. Additionally, she turned in the second-fastest time (54.86) in the 100 butterfly. 
 
Hannah Schlegel, Ohio          
Sophomore, Birdsboro, Pa. (Twin Valley High School)
 
Ohio University’s Hannah Schlegel once again entered the Ohio University Top 10 performances after her 1000-yard freestyle race victory this weekend against Mid-American Conference rival Akron. Schlegel finished the 1000-yard freestyle event 10 seconds faster than the second-place finisher with a race time of 10:05.29. With her performance, she now holds the fifth fastest 1000-yard freestyle time in Ohio University history and holds the third fastest 1000-yard freestyle time in the MAC Women’s Top 20 record book. Schlegel also won the 500-yard freestyle event against Akron this past weekend with a time of 4:58.22.

Jillian Lawton, Buffalo           
Sophomore, Lakewood, NY / Southwestern
 
Jillian Lawton impressed for the Bulls in several events during the team’s 176-117 win in the Senior Day dual meet against Bowling Green, as the sophomore was a part of both of the Bulls’ relays wins, collecting first place finishes in both the 200-yard medley (1:43.68) and 200-yard freestyle (1:35.75) relays. Lawton also collected an individual victory on the day, touching the wall in first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a winning time of 23.43.
 
Gabrielle Mace, Eastern Michigan    
Senior, Clinton, Mich. (Chippewa Valley)     
 
Eastern Michigan senior diver Gabrielle Mace broke the 300-point barrier for the first time in her career against Albion College, Friday Feb. 1. In her final appearance in Jones Natatorium, the Clinton, Mich. native scored a 308.18 on the 3-meter dive. Mace's podium-topping effort also recorded the eighth-best performance by a Mid-American Conference diver this season.
