MAC Announces 2019 Softball Preseason Poll

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced Wednesday the 2019 MAC Softball preseason poll and predicted MAC Tournament Champion as voted on by the head coaches of the 11 MAC institutions. 

The Ball State Cardinals were selected to sit at the top of the table in 2019, as Head Coach Megan Ciolli Bartlett and her team come off of a season in which they captured a No. 2 seed in the MAC Tournament. The Cardinals finished the 2018 season with a 37-19 overall record, and went 16-7 in MAC Play. Ball State will return All-MAC First Team members Haley Dominique and Aeshia Miles to the team in 2019.  

Ball State is also the predicted favorite to claim the 2019 MAC Tournament Championship title, receiving seven total votes in the poll. Kent State, Ohio and Bowling Green each received one vote to take home the hardware in 2019. 
 
The remaining top half of the 2019 Softball Preseason Poll includes the 2018 MAC Champion Ohio Bobcats, along with Kent State, Western Michigan, Northern Illinois and Miami. 
 
The Central Michigan Chippewas and Bowling Green Falcons fall at the 7thand 8thspots in the poll, while Toledo, Akron and Buffalo round out the poll respectively. 

The 2019 season will begin this Friday, February 8thwith 10 out of 11 teams traveling to tournaments to compete in non-conference action. To view the complete 2019 MAC Softball schedule, click here.
