Dickerson & Lawson Named Scholar-Athletes of the Week
Female Scholar Athlete of the Week: February 18th – February 24th, 2019
Miami's Lauren Dickerson, Basketball - Guard (Junior, 3.3, Interactive Media Studies)
Junior guard Lauren Dickerson led the Miami offense to two wins last week to keep the RedHawks at the top of the conference standings and earn back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time since the 1980's. Dickerson put together two 20-point games as she averaged 26.5 points per game this week. She was the top scorer for either team in both games. Dickerson also averaged 3.0 steals per game and 4.0 rebounds per game. In Wednesday's win at Toledo, Dickerson tied her second-highest point total of the season with 28 points while shooting 50 percent from long range. She has nine 20-point games this season.
Male Scholar Athlete of the Week: February 18th – February 24th, 2019
Kent State's TJ Lawson, Track and Field - Multis (Redshirt Junior, 3.778, Sport Administration)
TJ Lawson captured the heptathlon crown at the MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships with a score of 5,427 points. Lawson set a personal-record with a throw of 47’-5.25” in the shot put and also took first-place in the high jump (6’-9”), pole vault (15’-5”) and 1,000-meter run (2:49.25). A 2018 First Team All-American in the event, the redshirt junior was able to take his place atop the podium despite completing a multis competition for the first time since the 2018 MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
