Cecil & Frost Named Women's Basketball Players of the Week

East Division
Andrea Cecil, Bowling Green, Forward
Junior – Oak Harbor, Ohio/Oak Harbor

Bowling Green junior forward Andrea Cecil led the Falcons in scoring and rebounding last week, with 21.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. She shot 68.2% from the field, going 15-for-22, and hit 4-of-6 three-pointers (66.7%). Cecil also averaged 3.0 assists per game and shot 81.8% (9-for-11) from the free-throw line. On Wednesday, Cecil led the Falcons and tied for game honors with 26 points as the Falcons led from wire to wire en route to an upset win over Buffalo, 78-72, at the Stroh Center. Cecil shot 10-for-15 from the field and had seven rebounds and a career-high five assists in addition to those 26 points. Then, On Saturday, Cecil battled foul trouble, but had 17 points in just 20 minutes vs. Kent State. She added six rebounds and went 5-for-7 from the floor and 6-of-7 from the stripe. Cecil drew a foul and made a pair of pressure-packed free throws to tie the game at 73-73 with 16.7 seconds to go. She had eight points in the fourth period as BG battled back from a 13-point deficit with under six minutes left in the game to tie the score, before KSU hit two late free throws to take the lead. On the season, Cecil is averaging a team-leading 15.3 points along with 5.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, and she is shooting 43.2% from the arc, having made 48 three-pointers in 111 attempts. She is also shooting 87.5% (63-for-72) from the free-throw line.
 
West Division
Reyna Frost, Central Michigan, Forward
Senior – Reese, Michigan/Reese

Central Michigan senior forward Reyna Frost remained red hot this past week averaging 28 points and 17 boards per game to help propel the Chippewas to a pair of road victories over Western Michigan and Buffalo. On Wednesday's 87-53 rivalry win over the Broncos, the Reese, Mich., native went off for a career-high 33 points to go along 20 boards for her 6th-straight double-double performance. Frost also finished a perfect 3-of-3 from three-point range in the win. In Saturday's 100-95 shootout victory over the Bulls, Frost finished with 23 points and 14 rebounds en route to her 21st double-double of the season, which is good for 3rd in the NCAA.

Corrione Cardwell, Eastern Michigan, Guard
R-Sophomore – Cleveland, Ohio/New Tech East

Redshirt sophomore Corrione Cardwell (Cleveland, Ohio-New Tech East) filled up the box score to lead the Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team to a 1-1 showing, Feb. 13-16. Cardwell averaged 11.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 4.0 steals per game for the week, while also shooting an efficient 45.0 percent from the field. Cardwell kicked off the week with 10 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and added five assists and five steals versus Kent State. In doing so, she became the first Eagle to turn in a stat line of at least 10 pts - 8 rebs. - 5 ast. - 5 stls. against a NCAA Division I opponent since Desyree Thomas racked up 19 points, 9 rebounds, 10 assists, and five steals in EMU's MAC Tournament Quarterfinals clash with Western Michigan, March 9, 2013. The Cleveland, Ohio native wrapped things up with a 12-point performance in EMU's win over Ball State, Feb. 16. Cardwell also added a team-best four assists, while tying for the team lead with three swipes.
 
Cierra Dillard, Buffalo, Guard
Senior – Rochester, New York/Gates Chili

Buffalo senior guard Cierra Dillard averaged 27.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 4.5 steals per game on the week. At Bowling Green, Dillard led Bulls with 26 points and six assists. Against Central Michigan, Dillard led all scorers with 29 points while adding nine rebounds, seven assists and seven steals. Dillard ranks second in the nation in scoring (25.2 ppg), first in free throws made (162) and third in free throws attempted (207) and final points.
 
Asiah Dingle, Kent State, Guard
Freshman – Stoughton, Massachusetts/Archbishop Williams

Asiah Dingle sank the game-winning free throws with 5.5 seconds remaining in Kent State’s Play4Kay game victory against Bowling Green on Saturday to cap a 2-0 week. Dingle scored a game-high 21 points in the win while matching her career-high with 5 steals and recording 4 assists. The freshman point guard totaled 11 points and 5 rebounds in the Golden Flashes’; victory at Eastern Michigan on Wednesday.
 
CeCe Hooks, Ohio, Guard
Sophomore – Dayton, Ohio/Thurgood Marshall

Sophomore guard Cece Hooks (Dayton, Ohio) was the leading scorer for both of Ohio's games this week. In Ohio's 70-56 win over Western Michigan, Hooks was 7-of-13 (53.8 percent) for 15 points. Hooks was one rebound shy of a double-double with nine rebounds and also dished out four assists while earning two steals. Hooks had a team-high 21 points on a 9-of-22 (40.9 percent) performance. Hooks had three offensive and three defensive rebounds at Toledo.
 
Savannah Kluesner, Miami, Forward
Junior – St. Charles, Illinois/Lutheran

Junior forward Savannah Kluesner led Miami to two conference wins this week to put the RedHawks at the top of the MAC standings. Kluesner led the Miami offense with 15.0 points per game and averaged 9.0 rebounds per game while shooting 56.5 percent from the floor this week. She was also a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. In Wednesday's 70-45 win against Northern Illinois, Kluesner put up a game-high 17 points, shooting 61.5 percent from the floor. In Saturday's 67-61 win at Akron, Kluesner registered her sixth double-double of the season scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
 
Ally May, NIU, Forward
R-Junior – Hartland, Wisconsin/Arrowhead

May averaged nine points and six rebounds per game this week as NIU split games against Miami and Toledo. The redshirt-junior led the Huskies with 12 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks as NIU escaped with a 54-52 win over Toledo on Saturday. Her three blocks tied a career-high.
 
Kaayla McIntyre, Toledo, Center
Senior – Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy

Senior Kaayla McIntyre averaged a team-high 18.5 points, a squad-best 13.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and a team-best 3.0 blocked shots in two games this past week. McIntyre scored in double figures in both contests, shooting a blistering 72.7 percent (16-of-22) from the field in 33.0 minutes. The Toledo native opened the week with 17 points, a game-high 12 caroms and a contest-best five rejections vs. MAC East Division frontrunner Ohio on Wednesday. Three days later at Northern Illinois, she had a game-high 20 points and a contest-best 15 boards to post her third-straight double-double and seventh on the year. McIntyre shot an efficient 9-of-12 from the field and 2-of-4 from the charity stripe vs. NIU to surpass the 20-point barrier for a squad-best sixth time this year.
 
Megan Sefcik, Akron, Guard
R-Senior – Austintown, Ohio/Austintown-Fitch

Redshirt senior Megan Sefcik continues to be a top scoring threat around the MAC and reached a milestone in her career. For the week, the Zips guard averaged 18 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 1.5 assists, and 0.5 blocks and helped Akron to a 1-1 record. Against Ball State, Sefcik scored 24 points an efficient 8-of-10 shooting and 4-of-6 from distance. With the second three-pointer of the contests, Sefcik connected on the 200th made three-pointer of her career which had only been previously accomplished by two other Zips in program history. Sefcik then came out and posted her 19th double-digit scoring performance against Miami with 12 points, four rebounds, and two steals.
 
Leighah Wool, Western Michigan, Forward
Sophomore – Evanston, Illinois/Evanston

Sophomore Leighah Wool turned in a pair of solid performances despite Western Michigan's losses against two tough teams in Central Michigan and Ohio. Wool averaged 16.5 points through two games, headlined by a career-high 21-point performance at Ohio on Saturday. Versus the Bobcats, Wool converted a career-high eight field goals and a career-high five three-point field goals to lead WMU.
