MUNCIE, Ind. -- Tayler Persons registered 15 points and nine rebounds and Trey Moses' tip-in basket with 7 seconds remaining carried Ball State to a 57-56 victory over Akron on Saturday.

K.J. Walton had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Cardinals (14-11, 5-7 Mid-American Conference). Tahjai Teague added nine rebounds and Moses grabbed nine rebounds to go with six points.

Daniel Utomi scored 21 for the Zips (14-11, 6-6). Loren Cristian Jackson added 11 points and his two free throws with 26 seconds left put Akron on top 56-55. 

Tyler Cheese had 10 points and nine rebounds.

Ball State faces Miami (Ohio) on the road on Tuesday. Akron takes on Bowling Green on the road on Tuesday.

Western Michigan 84, Miami 79

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Kawanise Wilkins had a season-high 26 points as Western Michigan narrowly defeated Miami (Ohio) 84-79 in overtime on Saturday.

Western Michigan trailed 33-28 at halftime, tied the score early in the second half and built a 52-45 lead after a layup by Wilkins with 8:11 remaining. Miami rallied and led by six points heading into the final 2 minutes. Wilkins had a 3-point play, a two-point jumper and a 3-pointer as Western Michigan sent the game into overtime. The Broncos took an early four-point lead in overtime and did not give up the lead.

William Boyer-Richard had 16 points for Western Michigan (8-18, 2-11 Mid-American Conference). Michael Flowers added 14 points. Seth Dugan had 10 rebounds for the hosts. Wilkins hit 10 of 13 shots. He added seven rebounds.

Dalonte Brown had 17 points and nine rebounds for the RedHawks (13-12, 5-7). Abdoulaye Harouna added 17 points. Nike Sibande had 15 points and eight rebounds.
Western Michigan plays Eastern Michigan on the road next Saturday. Miami (Ohio) matches up against Ball St. at home on Tuesday.

Bowling Green 87, Northern Illinois 67

DEKALB, Ill. -- Justin Turner had a career-high 34 points as Bowling Green easily beat Northern Illinois 87-67 on Saturday.

Dylan Frye had 13 points for Bowling Green (18-7, 10-2 Mid-American Conference). Antwon Lillard added 10 points and six assists. Marlon Sierra had seven rebounds for the visitors.

Levi Bradley had 18 points for the Huskies (12-14, 5-8), whose losing streak stretched to five games. Eugene German added 15 points. Lacey James had 13 points.
Bowling Green takes on Akron at home on Tuesday.

Northern Illinois plays Toledo on the road next Saturday.

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. -- Shawn Roundtree had 22 points as Central Michigan defeated Ohio 87-80 on Saturday.

Roundtree shot 10 for 11 from the line.

Larry Austin Jr. had 19 points and eight rebounds for Central Michigan (17-8, 6-6 Mid-American Conference). David DiLeo added 18 points. Kevin McKay had 14 points and eight rebounds for the hosts.

Ben Vander Plas scored a season-high 24 points and had 13 rebounds for the Bobcats (11-13, 3-9), who have now lost five straight games. Teyvion Kirk added 13 points. Jason Carter had 13 points and 10 rebounds. He also had seven turnovers.

Central Michigan takes on Kent State at home on Tuesday. Ohio plays Buffalo on the road on Tuesday.

KENT, Ohio -- Antonio Williams had 20 points as Kent State defeated Eastern Michigan 71-58 on Saturday night.

Philip Whittington had 17 points and 10 rebounds for Kent State (19-6, 8-4 Mid-American Conference). Jaylin Walker added 15 points.

Kevin McAdoo had 13 points for the Eagles (11-14, 5-7). Tariq Silver added 10 points. Elijah Minnie had seven rebounds.

Paul Jackson, the Eagles' second leading scorer heading into the matchup at 14 points per game, had only 3 points (1 of 10).

The Golden Flashes leveled the season series against the Eagles with the win. Eastern Michigan defeated Kent State 95-61 on Jan. 12. Kent State matches up against Central Michigan on the road on Tuesday.

Eastern Michigan plays Toledo at home on Tuesday.
