Brancifort and Mallers Named Scholar-Athletes of the Week
Female Scholar Athlete of the Week: February 4th – February 10th, 2019
Kent State's Hunter Brancifort, Softball - Infield (Senior, 3.893, Finance)
Hunter Brancifort had a monster start to her senior season with 8 RBIs this past weekend at the FGCU Kickoff Classic. Brancifort drove in 7 of her runs against Penn State to lead Kent State to a two-game sweep of the Big Ten member. Her grand slam in the bottom of the first inning helped the Golden Flashes run-rule the Nittany Lions, 11-0, on Saturday. Defensively, Brancifort did not commit any errors in 17 chances.
Male Scholar Athlete of the Week: February 4th – February 10th, 2019
Ball State's Kyle Mallers, Basketball (Junior, 3.598, Finance)
Kyle Mallers scored a career-high 22 points and made a career-best six 3-pointers in Ball State’s 79-59 victory Saturday over Western Michigan. The junior forward also grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds for his third career double-double. Mallers connected on 7-of-11 from the floor, including 6-of-10 from 3-point range. He scored 14 of his points and hit four of his 3’s in the second half as the Cardinals pulled away after leading by one at the break. Mallers helped Ball State to a 2-0 week, including a road victory four days earlier at Northern Illinois.
