MAC Gymnast of the Week
Denelle Pedrick, Central Michigan, Junior

Going on three weeks in a row, Denelle has out-performed the adversary and has claimed the highest score in All-Around performance. Her score breakdown includes: 9.800 in Vault (FIRST Place), 9.775 on Bars (THIRD Place), 9.850 on Beam (FIRST Place), 9.850 on Floor (SECOND Place), and the sum of her All-Around score was 39.275 which puts her as the leading gymnast of the meet, as well as the rest of the conference. The next closest scores in the MAC came from the respective gymnasts of Eastern Michigan (39.250) as well as Western Michigan (39.050). Further statistics of Denelle’s performance include 9.850s on both Beam and Floor which ties her season high, a 9.800 on Vault which is a season high, and a 39.275 in All-Around which is also a season high.

MAC Specialist of the Week
Rachael Underwood, Western Michigan, Senior

After missing last week's meet at Ball State with injury, senior Rachael Underwood returned to competition and turned in a first-place finish against Eastern Michigan. In her only event, Underwood won the balance beam with a 9.900, setting a new career high. Underwood’s beam score is one of only two 9.9 or better this season in the MAC.

Other Gymnast Nominees 

Madeline MacDonald, Ball State, Junior
MacDonald turned in a consistent performance across the board to lead Ball State to a road MAC dual meet win. The junior was 4th of 18 gymnasts on the floor and was also 9.700 in both vault and bars.

Lexi Augustine, Bowling Green, Junior

Competing on bars, beam and floor, Lexi Augustine totaled the highest combined score for anyone competing on three events in a tri-meet with Ball State and Lindenwood. Augustine posted a 9.725 on beam, a season-best 9.750 on bars and a 9.800 on floor. She tied for second overall on floor.

Emili Dobronics, Eastern Michigan, Junior
Junior Emili Dobronics completed Eastern’s meet against Western Michigan with a career-high all-around score of 39.250, taking first place, Feb. 8. Dobronics hit a 9.800 on bars, finishing second, and a 9.725 on vault, tying for first. The junior hit a career-best performance on beam, 9.875, good for second, while tying for first on floor with a 9.850.

Abby Fletcher, Kent State, Sophomore

Fletcher scored a season-high 9.875 to win the individual floor competition. She also recorded a season-high 9.800 on vault to tie for first place, while scoring a 9.725 to tie for sixth on beam.

Morgan Spence, Western Michigan, Sophomore
Sophomore Morgan Spence turned in one of WMU’s two top finishes at Eastern Michigan, tying for first on vault with a 9.725. Spence placed in the top five in all four events, placing third on the floor exercise (9.775), fourth on uneven bars (9.750), and fifth on beam (9.800). Her all-around score of 39.050 was her best of the season. As a team, Western Michigan recorded its second-highest total score of the season.

Other Specialist Nominees

Stefanie Schweikert, Ball State, Freshman
Schweikert, a freshman, helped Ball State to a MAC dual meet win on Friday. She tied for first in vault (9.825), leading the Cardinals to a 48.950 mark in vault. Schweikert has scored 9.750 or better on vault for three meets in a row.

Bars: 9.625 / 11th

Leslie Delgado, Bowling Green, Senior
Leslie Delgado tied her career-best with a 9.850 on bars, placing second overall in a tri-meet with Ball State and Lindenwood. Delgado’s 9.850 score was the third time this year she has posted that mark and the second consecutive meet she has done so.

Morgan Tong, Central Michigan, Freshman
Coming in as just a Freshman, Morgan Tong set the tone for the Chippewas on Vault. Landing a score of 9.725, she and the Chippewas didn’t look back as they proceeded to a 195.175 - 194.925 win over the Kent State Golden Eagles. Morgan’s highlight wasn’t her tone-setting performance on Vault, instead the underclassman showed an incredible performance on the Balance Beam which earned her FIRST place against the other more veteran competition. Her 9.850 on Beam is a season as well as career high.

Courtney Bezold, Eastern Michigan, Sophomore
Sophomore Cortney Bezold competed against Western Michigan on bars, scoring a career-high 9.875 and finishing first.

Bars: 9.875 / 1st

Dara Williams, Kent State, Senior

Williams tied for first place in both vault and bars. She tied a career-high 9.825 on bars to secure a share of the individual bars title for the third time this season, while her season-high 9.800 on vault earned her a second individual vault title. Through four meets, Williams has five individual titles.

Mia Lord, Northern Illinois, Sophomore
NIU sophomore Mia Lord won the balance beam event with a score of 9.850 in the Huskies’ win over Southeast Missouri in Cape Girardeau Friday night. Lord’s score won the beam event by .500 over her nearest competitor and was her second-highest score of the season, as well as her third win on balance beam of the season. She helped NIU to its highest road team total of the season and its second-best score overall as the Huskies improved to 9-3 on the season.
