CLINTON, S.C.– Day three of the Blue Hose Invitational and the first weekend of softball is in the books after the Akron softball team downed Morgan State, 5-0, and ended in a 6-6 draw against East Tennessee State at the PC Softball Complex on Sunday afternoon.

FT. MYERS, Fla.- - Led by another strong performance from its pitching staff, the Ball State softball team closed play in the FGCU Kickoff Classic with a 2-0 win over tournament host FGCU Sunday afternoon.

FULLERTON, CALIF. - The University at Buffalo softball team (0-5) fell to Loyola Marymount 2-1 in the final game of the Titan Classic on Sunday afternoon."Today we competed," interim head coach Mike Ruechel said. "We let three games slip away from us this weekend. Our pitchers worked hard all weekend long. I'm very proud of the progress we made from game one to game five."

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. –The Central Michigan softball team outhit College of Charleston on Sunday, but could not capitalize as it fell, 3-1, in its fifth and final game of the season-opening College of Charleston Cougar Classic.

Fort Myers, Fla. – Kent State (3-2) bludgeoned Penn State (1-4), 9-2, on Sunday morning to sweep the season series against the Nittany Lions. The Golden Flashes outscored Penn State, 20-2, and out hit the Nittany Lions, 21-5.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. –The Miami University softball team (2-3) split the final day of the USC Upstate Tournament on Sunday. The RedHawks won their rematch with East Carolina by a 3-1 margin to start the day. Miami concluded the day with a 1-3 loss against host team USC Upstate.

HAMMOND, La. – A two-run first inning was more than enough for the Northern Illinois University softball team as the Huskies scored a 2-1 victory over Nicholls State on the final day of the Lion Classic I hosted by Southeastern Louisiana State Sunday.

KENNESAW, Ga. – The Ohio softball team (4-1) wrapped up play at the 2019 Phyllis Rafter Memorial, defeating Eastern Illinois (2-3), 4-1, Sunday afternoon (Feb. 10) in Kennesaw, Ga. After Eastern Illinois threatened in the top of the first inning, the Bobcats would strike first in the bottom of the frame. Sophomore Allie Englant (Long Beach, Calif.) drew a walk and would then score on an RBI double from sophomore Katie Yun (North Canton, Ohio), giving the Bobcats a 1-0 lead going into the second inning.

Cedar Falls, Iowa - Toledo Softball and first-year head coach Joe Abraham recorded their first win of the season today in an unforgettable 4-0 shutout of Saint Louis on the final day of the Northern Iowa UNI-Dome Classic. Sophomore Erin Hunt broke the UT record for most strikeouts in a single game in route to her first Division I win, and sophomore Kylie Norwood hit a grand slam to end her impressive weekend.
