Mid-American Conference

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced its 2019 Men's and Women's Cross Country Academic All-MAC teams Thursday. A total of 39 student-athletes were named to the men's team while 84 student-athletes were named to the women's team.

Eastern Michigan led the men's team with ten honorees. Miami followed with seven student-athletes receiving recognition and Buffalo placing six on the 2019 team.
 
On the women’s side, Miami and Ohio each placed 10 student-athletes on this year’s squad. NIU, Toledo and Western Michigan followed with eight, while Ball State, Eastern Michigan and Kent State each received seven nods.
 
Buffalo’s Scott Loforte, Toledo’s Matthew Gibbons and Bowling Green’s Kyle Hibinger & Jonathan Voth each recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA for the season.
 
A total of 12 women turned in a perfect 4.0 GPA; Mackenzie Andrews (Akron), Maddie Aul (Ball State), Meghan Hedrick (Ball State), Katerina Shuble (BGSU), Allie Zofkie (BGSU), Lexi Jorgens (CMU), Lauren Beckmann (CMU), Olivia Chandler (EMU), Samantha Hyme (KSU), Maeegan Murphy (MIA), Jessica Hartman (Ohio) and Brittany Hall (WMU).
 
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
