Buffalo:
Bulls Battle But Fall To Missouri

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo wrestling team went toe-to-toe with 19th-ranked Missouri on Sunday afternoon, but the Tigers ultimately pulled away for the 28-11 win at Alumni Arena. Derek Spann (133) got the Bulls on the board first with his third straight win by technical fall. After falling behind, 2-1, after the first, the redshirt-junior got a reversal and two four-point nearfalls in the second period to take control of the match. His second four-point nearfall in the third period clinched the tech fall win and gave the Bulls a 5-3 lead in the dual.  Full Story...

Cleveland State:
Cheek Wins 141 LB Title at CSU Open

CLEVELAND -- Senior Evan Cheek captured the title at 141 pounds and Cleveland State had a school-record seven place winners on Saturday at the 15th Annual Cleveland State Open. In addition to Cheek, Logan Heil (125) and Nico O'Dor (125) finished second, DeAndre Nassar (184) finished third, Cody Moosman (125) placed fourth, Riley Smucker (165) was fifth and John Kelbly (285) finished sixth. The Vikings seven place winners topped last year's total of six place winners for the most by Cleveland State in the event.  Full Story...

Kent State:
Berthold Leads Flashes at Cleveland State Open

CLEVELAND, OHIO- The Golden Flashes had four wrestlers place fourth or better, led by Spencer Berthold'ssecond-place finish and Kent State totaled the second-most team points at the 15th annual Cleveland State Open. Kent State totaled 419 points, second only to the host Vikings on Saturday. Berthold led the way with his runner-up finish. The heavyweight had two victories by fall and a third by major decision en route to a 3-1 day.  Full Story...

Lock Haven:
Wrestling Goes 3-0 At Messiah Duals

GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Lock Haven University wrestling team turned in an all-around dominating effort today on the way to a perfect 3-0 run at the Messiah Duals, hosted by Messiah College. LHU beat Millersville University 41-6, topped McDaniel College 49-6, and in the final match of the day, Lock Haven rolled by host-Messiah College, 43-3. On the day, Lock Haven won 26 of 30 bouts with 13 pins, five tech falls and three majors.
 
The three wins today helped Lock Haven cap a perfect 4-0 weekend. Last night (Fri, Dec. 13), LHU topped Navy 19-15 in a thriller at the 2019 Rumble in the Jungle hosted by Red Lion High School. Now winners of four straight, the Bald Eagles are 4-1 overall after opening the season last week with a loss to Central Michigan.  Full Story...

Klucker & Hazel secure bonus points, Bald Eagles drop Navy in thriller

RED LION, Pa. – Alex Klucker and Corey Hazel recorded valuable bonus-points, and DJ Fehlman sealed the team victory with a dominating win in the night's final bout, helping the Lock Haven University wrestling team edge out Navy (3-3), 19-15, at the 2019 Rumble in the Jungle in Red Lion, Pennsylvania at Red Lion High School's Fitzkee Center.
 
Klucker recorded a quick pin at 157 and Hazel recorded a major decision at 184 and the duo's bonus-point victories certainly played a major role in the outcome for the Bald Eagles (1-1). With the win, Lock Haven moved to 1-1 and bounced back from the dual season-opening loss last week vs. Central Michigan.  Full Story...

Missouri:
Tigers Extend MAC Winnning Streak 

BUFFALO, N.Y. – No. 18 Mizzou Wrestling earned a hard-fought dual win over MAC foe Buffalo, 28-11, Sunday afternoon (Dec. 15) to open MAC competition. The Tigers have now won 15 straight MAC duals. On Sunday, the Tigers won seven of the 10 bouts with two technical falls (157 and 174) and a pin (197). Mizzou improves to 3-2 on the year and 1-0 in MAC competition. The 125-pounder Dack Punke got Mizzou started on the right foot with an 8-3 decision to give the team a 3-0 lead after the first bout. An NCAA qualifier a year ago, Punke is now 7-5 on the year.

After Buffalo jumped out to an 8-3 lead after wins at 133 and 141, Mizzou flipped the script with two of its best wrestlers in the middle portion of the lineup. Second-ranked Brock Mauller improved to 11-0 with a 4-2 decision over John Arceri to cut the lead to 8-6. Then, Mauller's former high school teammate No. 14 Jarrett Jacques was dominant at 157 pounds, earning a 24-9 technical fall in 6:40 over Buffalo's Hunter Shaut, giving Mizzou the lead back 11-8.  Full Story...
