Central Michigan's Megan Kern, Volleyball - Libero (Senior, 3.97, Biology)
Senior libero Megan Kern totaled 27 digs and six aces as the Chippewas went 2-0 on the week to move within one win of claiming their first Mid-American Conference divisional title since 2003. Kern had 18 digs in the Chippewas’ four-set victory over rival Western Michigan on Thursday, and then had nine digs and a career-high four aces in a three-set sweep of Northern Illinois on Saturday. CMU is 20-4 overall, 10-2 MAC. A win on Thursday over Eastern Michigan would clinch a West Division title share for the Chippewas.
Male Scholar Athlete of the Week
Buffalo's Caleb Covell, Cross Country (Junior, 3.225, Mechanical Engineering)
Caleb Covell claimed the silver medal at the Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday afternoon. He completed the 8k race in 25:26.6. His second place finish is his personal best at the MAC championships, as he had finished in fourth place a year ago. Covell helped his teammates to a third place team finish. Their third place finish ties the UB men’s best finish at the MAC Championships since 2016.
