Bowling Green // Magnus Cup
Cleveland, Ohio – Senior Talisa Lemke and sophomore Daisy Platts won their events while setting school records as the Bowling Green State University swim and dive team concluded the first day of competition at Cleveland State University's Magnus Cup. Lemke won the 1 meter dive with a score of 325.20. Her score of 330.35 in the preliminary round is now the school and Magnus Cup record. Platts took first place in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:59.64, which is the new BGSU record. Platts is the first BGSU swimmer that has finished a 200 IM in less than two minutes. Platts' preliminary time of 2:01.07 is third in school history.
The Falcon relay teams were successful as well. The 400-yard medley relay team of Daisy Platts, Taylor Harris, Sarah Hennings, and Anna Eriksson took first with a time of 3:45.37. The team of Lauren Sullivan, Julianna Petrak, Michaela Ruddock, and Ashleigh Franks took tenth in that race with a time of 3:53.69. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Eriksson, Sullivan, Franks, and Noelle Lavigne earned second place with a time of 1:34.93. Shaunna Jones, Kate Lochridge, Gillian Boal, and Hennings finished tenth in the same event with a time of 1:37.09.
Sophomore Kylie Mosset finished second in the 1 meter dive, scoring a personal-best 293.55. Mosset has now qualified for the NCAA Diving Zones for the second consecutive season. She will join Lemke, who qualified for the fourth time earlier this season. Fellow sophomore Kellie House claimed fourth place in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in 5:00.75. Along with her relay successes, Anna Eriksson scored points for the Orange and Brown in an individual race. She finished the 50-yard freestyle in 24.03 seconds to earn sixth place. In total, BGSU scored 278.5 points, placing them in 4th place of 12 with two days of competition remaining.

The Falcons will return for day two of the Magnus Cup tomorrow morning. The preliminary events will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the finals will start at 5:00 p.m. Tomorrow's events will be the 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke, 3 meter diving prelims, 200-yard medley relay, and 800-yard freestyle relay. The remaining events will be held on Sunday. The preliminary session will begin at 9:00 a.m., with the finals kicking off at 4:00 p.m.
Ohio // Ohio State Open Invitational
COLUMBUS, Ohio. – The Ohio swimming and diving team wrapped up day two at the 2019 Ohio State Open Invitational on Friday (Nov. 22) sitting in eighth place with a total of 359 points.
Junior Samantha Glass (Villa Hills, Ky.) dropped over three seconds from her seed time in the 400 IM, completing the finals race in 4:23.45, which was good enough for 19th. Three Bobcats tallied points in the 200 Freestyle, freshman Emma Fortman (Madeira, Ohio), sophomore Madison Haschmeyer (Springfield, Ill.), and junior captain Katherine Garrity (Eagan, Minn.). Fortman finished 17th with a time of 1:49.94, Haschmeyer finished 37th at 1:53.22, and Garrity came in 40th with a time of 1:54.22.
On the diving side, freshman Halli Siwik (Fishers, Ind.) completed the 1M diving event with a score of 220.65, good enough for 16th.
The open wraps up tomorrow with 8 a.m. prelims and 6:30 p.m. finals. Tomorrow's events include the 1650 Freestyle, 200 Backstroke, 100 Freestyle, 200 Breaststroke, 200 Butterfly, and 400 Freestyle Relay.
Toledo // TYR Invitational
EVANSTON, Ill. – Toledo did not hold back at Northwestern University's TYR Invitational on Friday, clocking four school Top-10 times on its way to a second-place showing with 183 points after one day of the three-day event. Host Northwestern leads the six-team field with 383 points.
"Today ended with countless lifetime and season-best times," said interim head coach Brie Globig. "We are in second place right now, and are looking to keep the momentum going into tomorrow and Sunday. Izzy, Kennedy, and Lauren all had stand out swims in their events today. We're ready to get tomorrow started."
Redshirt-freshman Kennedy Lovell had an outstanding performance in the pool, etching her name in the Toledo Top-10 performance sheet in two events. Lovell clocked a 4:57.88 in the preliminary round of the 500 freestyle, securing a spot in the finals. She went on to drop over three second off her prelim time and place fifth overall. Lovell's 4:54.00 in the finals places her ninth overall in program history. Lovell led the Rockets in the 50 freestyle, placing ninth overall. She touched the wall in 23.51 – the ninth-fastest in program history.
Freshman Lauren Kilgore also etched her name in the Top-10 performance sheet, clocking a 2:00.61 in the 200 IM for third-place at the invitational and fourth-fastest in program history. Junior Izzy Jones won the 500 freestyle, touching the wall in 4:46.89. Jones' time was fourth-fastest in program history.
The Rockets placed fourth in both relays, clocking season-best times in both. Jones swam opening leg of the 400 medley relay, helping teammates Bec Welke, Duda Sales, and Lisa Eriksson to a 3:44.42 finish. Not far behind were teammates Ashley Jeffreys, Cami Cahill, Lauren Kilgore, and Kendra Powleski who placed sixth with a 3:48.96 time. In the 200 free relay, Eriksson, Kilgore, Alida Ramden, and Lovell clocked a 1:34.07 for fourth place. Sales, Ashley Lefever, Welke, and Polewski placed eighth in the event.
Sophomore Joelle Gallais placed fourth on the three-meter board, scoring a 250.60.
Competition at the TYR Invitational continues Saturday and Sunday.
