EMU Rallies to Win MAC Fall Preview

SILVER LAKE, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) –  After trailing by three strokes headed into Tuesday's third round of the MAC Fall Preview at Silver Lake Country Club, the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team rallied to win its second consecutive tournament this season with a score of 942 (316-314-312). Last week, the Eagles took home the title at the Shirley Spork Invitational, Sept. 20-Oct. 1, at Eagle Crest Golf Club.

The back-to-back tournament victories are the first for an EMU squad since the 2007-08 season. That year, EMU won the Legends Shootout, Oct. 8-9, and followed it up with a victory at the Red Rocks Invitational, March 7-9. More impressively, it is the first championship in consecutive weeks since the 2006-07 campaign when EMU tasted victory at the Saluki Invitational, March 25-26, and the EKU Invitational, April 5-6.

Overall, the victory marked the 23rd title in the program's history and the second during Head Coach Stephanie Jennings' tenure.

EMU sophomore Green Apichonlati (Bangkok, Thailand-The Regent's International School) posted the best-showing of her young career with runner-up finish on the course that will host the 2020 Mid-American Conference Championship.  The Bangkok, Thailand finished with a two-day cumulative tally of 228 (81-72-75), bettering her previous 54-hole best mark of 230 that was established just last week.

Sitanun Jonglikit of Kent State claimed medalist honors with a six-over 222 (75-73-74).

Three other Eagles finished inside the tournament's top-20. Junior Preaw Sripatrprasite (Bangkok, Thailand-Siam International) finished with a 236 (77-80-79) in 12th, senior Julia Stevenson (Milford, Mich.-Milford) was 15th after a 238 (77-81-80), and senior Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne) took 20th with a 240 (81-81-78). Senior Katelin Lawson (LaSalle, Ontario- Ridge Community-Tampa) rounded out the lineup in 42nd-place after a two-day total of 251 (81-89-81). Playing as an individual, freshman Olivia Loberg (Bend, Ore.-Summit) turned in a 243 (75-86-82) in a tie for 26th.

EMU will look to make it three in-a-row when they close out the fall campaign at the FIU Pat Bradley Invitational, Oct. 20-22, in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
