MAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Daisy Platts, Bowling Green
Sophomore – Leicester, UK/Lutterworth College

For the second consecutive weekend, Daisy Platts won three individual events. Her times in the 100-yard backstroke (55.40) and 200-yard backstroke (1:59.42) are now seventh in program history. She also claimed a victory in the 200 IM, her sixth individual win of the year. The sophomore saw success in the 200-yard medley relay as well, swimming the opening leg for the first-place Falcons. The performance from Platts and the rest of her teammates helped BGSU open their MAC schedule with a 174-126 victory at home.

Victoria Franz, Buffalo
Freshman – Buffalo, New York/Sacred Heart

Freshman diver Victoria Franz won both the 1 and 3-meter diving events in just her second collegiate meet as the Bulls trounced Ball State, 197-103. She scored a 277.35 in the 1-meter and a 318.90 in the 3-meter. In the 3-meter dive, she scored over 55 points higher than the runner-up. Franz continued her dominance as she won the 1-meter dive by over 33 points. The freshman diver has now qualified for the NCAA Diving Zones just two weekends into the young season.
 
Andrea Galisteo, Akron
Freshman – Madrid, Spain/Ies Ortega y Gasset

Freshman Andrea Galisteo how a strong showing in Akron’s first home duel/long course competition of the season, competing in two events and placing first in both. In the very first event, the 800 free, Galisteo finished first for the Zips with a time of 9:01.18. She later followed that up with another strong performance in the 400 free, once again finishing first with a time of 4:26.69, four seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
 
Katherine Garrity, Ohio
Junior – Eagan, Minnesota/Rosemount

Garrity won two individual races for the Bobcats as they fell in a tough MAC road matchup against Bowling Green. Garrity came in first in the 1000 Free with a time of 10:25.21, and later won the 500 Free with a time of 5:07.29.
 
Casey Gavigan, Eastern Michigan
Senior – East Setauket, New York/Ward Melville

Senior Casey Gavigan led the Eagles with two wins at the dual meet against Miami, Oct. 26. Claiming titles in the 100 back and 200 back, Gavigan earned 18 points for EMU to help the Green and White win the meet, 152-148.
 
Izzy Jones, Toledo
R-Junior – Ivinghoe, England/The Cottesloe School

Junior Izzy Jones earned two first-place finishes in the Rockets' loss to Akron Friday night. Jones had two strong swims in the 100 and 200 long-course backstrokes, touching the wall in 1:04.11 and 2:15.57, respectively. Jones' time in the 200 back was nearly a second faster than the second-place finisher from Akron.
 
Camila Lins de Mello, Miami
Sophomore – Belo Horisonte, Brazil/Izabel Hendrix

Sophomore Camila Lins de Mello continued to dominate her individual events and added a relay win last weekend against Eastern Michigan, accounting for three of Miami's nine individual event wins. Lins de Mello continues to hold the top times in the MAC in the 100 free, 200 free and 200 IM. Lins de Mello earned her fifth win in the 200 free (1:50.63) this season, beating the field by over two seconds as she's tied for the eighth-fastest time in the country. She also earned her fifth win in the 200 IM (2:03.61), ranking 14th nationally. Lins de Mello also won the 100 free (50.95) for the fourth time as she has the 18th-fastest time nationally and beat the runner up by two seconds. She owned the fastest split time among all competitors in the 400 free relay (50.03 for her split), swimming 2.41 seconds faster than any other split.
