BOWLING GREEN -- Four different players scored goals as the Bowling Green State University men's soccer shut down Purdue Fort Wayne, 4-0, Tuesday night (Oct. 22). The non-conference match was held at Cochrane Stadium.

The Falcons, now 8-5-1 on the year, scored twice in each half and outshot the Mastodons, 28-5, in the win. Sophomore Kale Nichols scored what would prove to be the winning goal with nearly 28 minutes gone, off of a seeing-eye pass by senior Charlie Maciejewski. Junior Chris Sullivan was involved in each of the next three BGSU goals, as he had a goal and two assists on the night.

Junior Achille Robin headed home Sullivan's corner kick to double the lead with just under three minutes left in the opening half. Then, after a PFW foul just outside the 18-yard box, Sullivan scored on a free kick with eight minutes gone in the second period. Freshman Spencer Straka, in his BGSU debut, scored his first collegiate goal, with Sullivan and fellow junior Zach Buescher picking up assists on the win.

Senior Anthony Mwembia made one save – a point-blank stop midway through the second half – to earn the clean sheet. At the other end of the field, Tor Erik Larsen had five saves for the Mastodons.

The Falcons return to Cochrane this weekend, hosting West Virginia in a Mid-American Conference match on Saturday (Oct. 26). That contest will begin at 5:00 p.m., and admission is free.
