Dickerson and Hooks Named to Nancy Lieberman Award Watch List

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Two Mid-American Conference gaurds were named to the Nancy Lieberman Award watch list, the Basketball Hall of Fame announced Monday afternoon (Oct. 21).

Lauren Dickerson of Miami, and CeCe Hooks of Ohio both collected the pre-season honor that recognizes the top point guard in NCAA Division I basketball.

By mid-February, the watch list of 20 players for the 2020 Lieberman Award will be narrowed to just 10. In March, five finalists will be presented to Ms. Lieberman and the Hall of Fame's selection committee. The winner of the 2020 Lieberman Award will be presented at The College Basketball Awards presented by Wendy's in Los Angeles, CA on Friday, April 10, 2020, along with the other four members of the Women's Starting Five.

Dickerson is a two-time All MAC First Team selection after being named MAC Freshman of the Year following the 2016-17 season. She is also a two-time Academic All-MAC selection. Dickerson is fourth in Miami history in scoring (1,670) in addition to ranking second in 20-point games (39), second in three-pointers attempted (702), third in three-pointers made (232), third in field goals made (607), third in field goals attempted (1,575) and fourth in assists (452). She led the team in points per game (16.4), field goals made (198), three-pointers made (70), assists (162) and steals (69) last season.

Hooks was the MAC Defensive Player of the Year last season and was also first-team All-MAC, MAC All-Defensive team and MAC All-Tournament team. Hooks broke her own single season steals record last season when she finished with 112, and is Ohio's 16th 1,000-point scorer, becoming the second-fastest to hit that mark.
