NIU's Tutt Receives Third Runner of the Week Honor
Men’s Runner of the Week
Josh Park, Ohio
Junior – Amherst, Ohio/Marion L. Steele
Josh Park finished 2nd in the 8K race at Pre-Nationals with a time of 24:46.3, leading Ohio to a second-place finish overall.
Women’s Runner of the Week
Ashley Tutt, Northern Illinois
Junior – Channahon, Illinois/Minooka
Competing against an elite field that included 10 of the nation’s top-30 teams, NIU junior Ashley Tutt earned a 17th-place finish at the Under Armour Pre Nationals at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Ind. Tutt posted a time of 20:34.2 over the six-kilometer course, helping NIU to a 27th-place finish, the highest of the four Mid-American Conference schools in the field.

Cesar Arellano, Bowling Green
Sophomore – Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Scioto
Coming in first for the Bowling Green Falcons in the Men's 8k Red Race event was sophomore Cesar Arellano coming in 25th overall with a time of 24:55.1. This was his third race of the season, and the first time he has placed first for BGSU in team scoring this season. He bested his previous time at Bradley by over half a minute from a year ago.
Lauren Beckmann, Central Michigan
Sophomore – Waterloo, Indiana/DeKalb
Lauren Beckmann put herself in rare CMU cross country company in finishing in a personal-best 21:56.8 and placing 25th in the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria, Ill. Her time is among the top 20 for a 6K in program history as she led the Chippewas to a seventh-place finish in the 23-team field.
Mark Beckmann, Central Michigan
Senior – Waterloo, Indiana/DeKalb
CMU senior Mark Beckmann placed 21st in a 132-runner field at the Pre-National Invitational at Indiana State's LaVern Gibson Championship Course.
Caleb Covell, Buffalo
Junior – Rochester, New York/Eastridge HD
Caleb Covell ran his best race the year. Covell finished in third place out of 113 runners in a very strong field at the prestigious Penn State National Open. He covered the 5.2 mile course in 25:35.2, which was nearly a minute faster than his previous best time on this course. His time was the fastest ever by a UB runner on the PSU course. He was also the top MAC finisher while leading his team to a seventh-place team finish.
Carly Davis, Miami
Senior – Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome
Miami's senior leader Carly Davis stepped up and led the way for MU on Saturday at Under Armour Pre-Nationals, hosted by Indiana State, as the 'Hawks ran in the loaded Blue Race featuring one of the strongest fields in the entire season. She crossed the line in 21:29.2 to lead all Miami runners, finishing in 100th overall among the field of over 250 athletes.
Cayla Eckenroth, Ball State
Junior – Novi, Michigan/Northville
Entering the 2019 Cardinal Classic, Ball State had not had a cross country runner break the 22-minute barrier in a 6K race since the 2010 NCAA Great Lakes Regional. In just the third 6K race held at the Muncie Elks Country Club, three Ball State runners took advantage of the great weather and speedy course to undercut the mark led by a winning effort from junior Cayla Eckenroth. Eckenroth crossed the line in a career-fast 21:36.2, shaving nearly a minute off her previous collegiate-best 6K time of 22:35.3, to record Ball State's fastest run at the distance since a 21:04.07 clocked by Bishel on Nov. 23, 2009 at the NCAA Championships. Her effort led a "perfect" race for the Cardinals, who scored 15 points by sweeping the top five scoring position to earn the Cardinal Classic team championship.
Alexis Hecico, Buffalo
Freshman – Baia Mare, Romania / Vasili Lucaciu National College
Alexia Hecico ran a strong race at the Penn State National Invite by running her second best 6k time of the season in 21:57. In just her first season of cross country, she continues to develop each race out!
Haley Hess, Akron
Senior – Curtice, Ohio/Clay
Akron senior Haley Hess registered a career-best time to direct the efforts of the University of Akron women's cross country team at the Penn State National on Friday, Oct. 18. Hess and senior Mackenzie Andrews (Toowoomba, Australia) battled down to the wire for top-team honors for the Zips with Hess crossing the line in a career-low and team-best time of 21:32.1 (31st) followed just over a second later by Andrews with a time of 21:33.5 (34th). Her efforts helped lead Akron to an 11th-place team showing.
Raymond Korir, Toledo
Sophomore – Kapsabet, Kenya/Kapsabet Boys HS
Sophomore Raymond Korir set pace for the Rockets at the Under Armour Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind. on Saturday. Korir clocked a time of 25:02.0 to take sixth, helping the Rockets to a 13th-place team finish. His performance on Saturday marked his third top-10 finish this season.
Marc Migliozzi, Akron
Sophomore – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania/North Allegheny
Akron senior Marc Migliozzi registered a career-best time to direct the efforts of the University of Akron men's cross country team at the Penn State National on Friday, Oct. 18. Migliozzi traversed the men's 5.2-mile course at the Penn State Blue-White Course in a career-best time of 25:36.3 en route to a fourth-place finish. Migliozzi crossed the line first for the Zips for the initial time this season and led Akron to a program-best fifth-place team finish at the event.
Sydney Niekamp, Bowling Green
Sophomore – Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon
Coming in first for Bowling Green was sophomore Sydney Niekamp finishing 23rd overall with a time of 21:52.2. She earned a new personal best in a 6k race having bested her time from this season's Spartan Invite (22:47.7). This was just her third race for BGSU.
Ryan Sharkey, Miami
Senior – Belfast, Northern Ireland
Miami senior Ryan Sharkey paced the RedHawk pack on Saturday at Under Armour Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind. The Northern Irishman crossed the line in 25:04.1, good for 123rd in the stacked field of over 250 of the nation's best runners.
Petronela Simiuc, Toledo
Senior – Bacau, Romania/Sports
Senior Petronela Simiuc posted a personal-best time of 21:19.2 in her season debut at the Under Armour Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind. on Saturday.
Madison Sury, Ohio
R-Senior – Waterford, Ohio/Waterford
Madison Sury ran a PR of 21:58.7 in the 6K race and finished 35th out of 169 competitors in the event. Sury led a Bobcat team that finished 12th out of 26 total teams.
