BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Despite facing 27 shots, senior goalkeeper Tristin Stuteville played a perfect game with eight saves to keep the ball out of the back of the net. Nicky Potts then took care of the offense and scored the game-winning goal in double overtime to lift Ball State to a 1-0 victory at Bowling Green Sunday afternoon.

The win pushed Ball State to 12-4-0 for the year and 6-2-0 in Mid-American Conference action. The loss was BGSU's first of the year in league play and snapped the Falcons' seven-game winning streak. It was the first meeting between the two sides since the 2018 conference championship.

"Bowling Green is a great team and there's a reason why they are at the top of the table, but it was another gritty performance from our ladies," said head coach Josh Rife. "It really speaks to their character to have the resolve to dig in and find a way. Kerrigan Johnson delivered a fantastic ball on the last corner and we did a great job to keep the play alive. Thankfully Nicky was able to put it away."

The first half was as even as it could have been with both teams only managing one shot on goal. Both sides had several chances in the second half to score a game winner, but both keepers were up to the task.

Ball State had the best chance of regulation when it earned a penalty kick in the 62nd minute, but BGSU's Kathleen Duwve made a diving save to keep the Cardinals off the board. BSU didn't concede any penalties, but Stuteville made seven of her eight saves in the second period to get the game to overtime.

Both teams got off two shots in overtime, but it was Ball State that converted. The Cardinals quickly possessed the ball at the start of the second extra period and pressed to earn a corner kick. Johnson sent the ball into the box where it bounced around before Potts found it to score her team-leading sixth goal of the year. The junior from England leads the team with 14 points this season.

Though it allowed 27 Bowling Green shots, Ball State managed 14 of its own with four on goal. The Cardinals also earned seven corners and conceded four.

The Cardinals finally return home from their three-game road trip for a pair of matches at home this week. First up is a showdown with Kent State Thursday at 4 p.m. ET. The match can be viewed live on ESPN+ and heard on the radio at 102.9 FM and 1340 AM.

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's soccer team sent the senior class out in dramatic fashion as the Bulls defeated Western Michigan 2-1 in overtime on a picture perfect Senior Day afternoon at UB Stadium.

With the win the Bulls improve to 8-6-1 overall, 5-3 in MAC play, while the Broncos fall to 6-8-1, 4-3-1 in league play.

The Bulls had their first scoring chance of the game in the 28th minute as Leah Wengender ripped a shot from point blank range that slid just wide.

The Broncos had their first look in the 31st minute as Morgan Otteson got her head on the corner attempt but Emily Kelly made a fantastic diving save.

Western Michigan would break through in the 33rd minute off a free kick as Otteson came up with the loose ball and flicked it past a diving Kelly into the net to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead.

UB would have another opportunity in the 38th minute as Hannah Callaghan got two looks from inside the box but both were turned away by the Broncos defense.

The Buffalo offense came out flying to start the second half as Katherine Camper drilled a ball off the cross bar in the opening minute of the second period and ripped another one six minutes later from about the same spot that Maggie Rogers just got a hand on to tip it out of play.

The aggressiveness would pay off in the 82nd minute as Wengender sends the corner kick into the box that went off the head of Callaghan and Tess Ford before Taylor Caridi gathered it and buried it into the top right corner of the net for her first career goal to tie the game 1-1.

Western Michigan responded with a great look of their own just a minute later as Otteson broke free up the right hand side and fired one on net but Kelly made a fantastic save to knock the ball out of play to send the game to overtime.

The Bulls would waste little time in the extra period as Kara Daly played a ball through to Marcy Barberic who flicked it to Kaitlyn Walsh and she drilled the game-winner into the bottom right corner of the net in the 91st minute.

In net, Kelly made four saves for UB, while Rogers made 11 stops for the Broncos. Buffalo outshot Western Michigan 23-7, including a 13-5 edge in shots on goal, and held the 9-3 edge in corners. Caridi was named Player of the Game by the UB coaching staff. The Bulls now have goals from 14 different players this season, the most in the MAC.

"Really proud of the player's resiliency," said head coach Shawn Burke. "They never got down, they always believed and they made no doubt about it come overtime. Have to give Emily a lot of credit, she was down on herself at halftime with the mistake, but we told her to just make the next play and she came up with a huge save late to keep the game tied. It says a lot about the character of our players and their ability to keep going and stay focused on the task. This is a massive three points for us at home and a great way for us to honor the seniors.

Up next, the Bulls will hit the road for the final three games of the regular season beginning with a trip to Michigan with matches at Central Michigan on Thursday, October 24, at 7pm, followed by a trip to Ypsilanti to take on Eastern Michigan on Sunday, October 27 at 1pm.

ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio soccer team (9-6-1, 4-3-1 MAC) took home a crucial victory on a beautiful senior day against Mid-American Conference foe Eastern Michigan (4-10-2, 3-5 MAC) on Sunday (Oct. 20), with the Bobcats defeating the Eagles, 1-0, thanks to a late second half goal by senior Sydney Leckie. "It was really a tactical battle," head coach Aaron Rodgers said. "We had to figure out how to break them down because they defended so well and were set up very well. I'm so proud of how we stay composed, how we're able to build and how we're able to create. We created so many chances today. We just have to be a little more clinical."

Both Ohio and Eastern Michigan fought in first half for control of the game. An early couple of shots were registered in the third and eighth minutes from Breeden and Milesky.

Action continued with Ohio registering another powerful shot on goal, this time from junior Paige Knorr (Cincinnati, Ohio), in the 26th minute. Eastern Michigan came up with an answer to Ohio's pressure and got physical at the end of the half. Forward Nichole Remedios registered a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute and just a minute later, received a yellow card for a foul in the midfield on sophomore forward Abby Townsend (Powell, Ohio).

Ohio kept the offense in high gear with Townsend registering two more shots on goal in the 66th and 67th minutes. Milesky also played a role in the in the offensive action, sending a shot in low to the left in the 70th minute that was met with a save from Eastern Michigan goalkeeper Chelsea Abbotts.

Ohio's offensive pressure finally paid off when Leckie scored off an assist from Milesky in the 73rd minute, putting Ohio up 1-0.

After a great run of play from the Bobcats the late action continued when Ohio was awarded a penalty kick in 85th minute. Eastern Michigan goalkeeper Abbotts took out sophomore Olivia Sensky (Powell, Ohio) on a botched attempt to grab the ball. Leckie stepped up to take the penalty, but Abbotts came up with a big save, keeping the score at 1-0.

After some scrappy final moments including an Eastern Michigan free kick just inside the final 15 seconds, Malham easily held on to the final shot on goal from the free kick from Remedios, securing the 1-0 win for Ohio.
