Bowling Green's Rodrigue Vie, Golf (Junior, 3.803, Finance)
Rodrigue Vie finished first among all 78 golfers at the Tom Tontimonia Invitational, posting a score of -8 (67-69-69). The individual win is the first of its kind since 2015 for the program. Vie's score was just three strokes behind the program record at 202, which was set by Jose Narro in 2015. The finish for Vie continues his excellent start to the season. Vie finished T-4th at the Raising Canes Invitational and was T-6th at the Firestone Invitational. Vie also helped the team win the tournament overall, finishing in first place with a score of -15 (837). The score was just five strokes behind the all-time program record of 832, which was set in 2010. This win was BGSU's first since the Mountaineer Invitational, hosted by West Virginia University, on October 10, 2017. The win was the first tournament win under head coach John Powers.
Female Scholar Athlete of the Week
Miami's Camila Lins de Mello, Swimming & Diving (Sophomore, 3.7, Biology)
Sophomore Camila Lins de Mello had another perfect weekend, winning all three of her individual events and the relay against Michigan State and Cincinnati. She won the 200 free for the third time this season (1:47.86), beating the field by more than four seconds. Lins de Mello won the 200 IM for the third time this season as well (2:03.10), beating all other swimmers by more than three seconds. She won the 100 free (50.79) for the second time this season, winning by 1.39 seconds, before anchoring the winning 400 free relay (3:27.23) with the fastest split time of the event. Lins de Mello owns the top time in the MAC in all four of the events she swam this weekend. Nationally among DI swimmers, she ranks 17th in the 200 free, 27th in the 100 free and 36th in the 200 IM.
