MAC Storylines 
• Week 8 features the start of league play for the remainder of the 2019 season. With six league games this Saturday, Oct. 19th, two will feature crossover games with Central Michigan at Bowling Green at 2:00 pm ET (ESPN3) and Northern Illinois at Miami at 2:30 pm ET/1:30 pm CT (ESPN+). This season, the MAC West Division has a 3-0 record over MAC East Division opponents in early MAC crossover contests.

• Two rivalry games were decided last Saturday as Bowling Green snapped a nine-game losing streak with a 20-7 win over Toledo for the ‘Battle of I-75’ Trophy and the Falcons first win in the series since 2009. Bowling Green’s win evened the series 40-40-4 all-time. Also, Kent State took home the ‘Wagon Wheel’ Trophy for the first time since 2014 with a 26-3 win at Akron.

• Western Michigan running back LeVante Bellamy became the eighth player in program history to reach 3,000 career rushing yards as Bellamy rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-16 win over Miami. A native of Indianapolis, Ind., Bellamy has rushed for 3,012 career yards during his career at Western Michigan.

• Ohio quarterback Nathan Rourke moved up the Ohio career pass completions list as Rourke is third in program history with 420 career pass completions. A native of Oakville, Ontario, Canada, Rourke was 19-31 passing for 258 yards and two touchdowns in a 39-36 loss to NIU. Rourke also rushed for 80 yards and another score and added a two-yard touchdown reception from DL Knock in the second quarter.
 
MAC Notebook
• Bowling Green quarterback Grant Loy accounted for 322 yards of total offense and two touchdowns in leading a 20-7 win over Toledo. The win was the first for the Falcons in the ‘Battle of I-75’ since 2009. Loy was 14-21 passing for 185 yards and one touchdown, while rushing for 137 yards and another score.

• Northern Illinois redshirt freshman John Richardson nailed a 37-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Huskies to a 39-36 win at Ohio. NIU scored on its final five straight possessions and scored 29 second half points to turn a 21-10 halftime deficit into its first MAC win of the season. NIU quarterback Ross Bowers threw for 338 yards and one touchdown on 23-of-39 passing, while running back Tre Harbison led with 113 yards rushing and three touchdowns.

• Kent State earned the ‘Wagon Wheel Trophy’ for the first time since 2014 after a 26-3 win at Akron. Kent State quarterback Dustin Crum was 16-21 passing for 149 yards and one touchdown, while running back Will Matthews rushed for 125 yards and one score. Flashes’ kicker Matthew Trickett matched a career-high with four field goals from 36, 43, 43 and 45 yards.

• Ball State improved to 2-0 in MAC play for the first time since 2013 after a 29- 23 win at Eastern Michigan. Ball State scored the final 15 points as quarterback Drew Plitt was 23-32 passing for 255 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for two scores and running back Caleb Huntley added 152 yards on 29 carries.

• Western Michigan scored 21 second quarter points to spur a 38-16 win over Miami. Linebacker Drake Spears’ 74-yard interception in the second quarter sparked the victory and running back LeVante Bellamy rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns. Bellamy posted his fourth 100-yard game of the season and he has rushed for a touchdown in five straight games.

• Central Michigan rushed for a season-high 352 yards in a 42-28 win over New Mexico State as Jonathan Ward and Kobe Lewis proved to be a potent one-two punch as the running backs combined for 328 yards in rushing and receiving and three touchdowns on 45 touches. Ward continued his resurgence, rushing for 131 yards on 18 carries, while Lewis had 161 yards and scored twice on 23 carries.
