MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Clara Rodriguez Seto, Kent State

Junior Clara Rodriguez Seto paced the Flashes in the 5-1 win over Ohio in Kent State's MAC opener. Her defense helped limit the Bobcats to only 10 shots while recording a defensive save, her fourth of the season. Rodriguez Seto also scored a goal within the first seven minutes of the game that gave the Flashes a 2-0 lead. On the season, Rodriguez Seto leads the team with six goals, 27 shots, and 14 points. 

MAC Offensive Player of the Week 
Luisa Knapp, Kent State         
Forward, Sophomore, BIETIGHEIM-BISSINGEN, GERMANY
 
Sophomore Luisa Knapp led Kent State's offensive efforts in 5-1 victory over Ohio for the Flashes' MAC opener. Knapp had a multi-goal game and scored two goals on four shots. This is the second time this season where Knapp has scored two goals in a game, the last time was against St. Francis (Aug. 30). Her four shots added to the Flashes' 28 total for the game. On the season, Knapp ranks second on the team with five goals, 11 shots and holds a .333 shot percentage.

Goalkeeper Katie Wyman continued her standout career this weekend with two impressive performances against formidable foes. She made three saves in a tightly contested 1-0 loss against Vermont on Friday. The fourth quarter goal was the first she allowed in 240 consecutive minutes of game action. She followed up this performance with an outstanding effort against No. 5 ranked Virginia on Sunday afternoon. Facing a high powered offense, Wyman managed to record nine saves against the ACC power to preserve the Lancers' chance at victory as long as she could before Longwood eventually fell 3-1. In total, the two-time All-MAC performer registered 12 saves as she looks to stay in top form with more MAC conference play around the corner.
 
Grace Chavez, Ball State        
Goalkeeper, Junior, Norfolk, Va.       
 
Grace Chavez was a defensive force in Saturday's game against the Chippewas as the junior goalie shutout CMU helping the Cardinals to a 2-0 MAC win Saturday afternoon at the Briner Sports Complex. CMU totaled 11 shot attempts for the game but couldn't find the back of the cage due to Chavez stellar defense Saturday. Chavez totaled three saves and played the full 60 minutes of action. Chavez had a flawless goals against average for the week along with collecting three saves the junior goalkeeper now has 24 saves for the season and 219 for her career. 
 
Leonor Berlie, Miami
Midfielder, Junior, Geneva, Switzerland (College de Candolle)       
 
Junior midfielder Leonor Berlie led the RedHawks in scoring while also leading a defense that earned two shutouts last weekend. Berlie helped seal the 2-0 conference win at Appalachian State on Friday with an insurance goal during the 47th minute. On Sunday, she scored the game-winning goal less than a minute before halftime in the 1-0 shutout of Davidson. Berlie led the Miami defense as it gave up just nine shots (five on target) and five penalty corners during the two games combined. On the offensive side, Berlie led the Miami offense with two goals on nine shots (six on target) for the weekend.
 
Rachel Gaines, Appalachian State     
Goalkeeper, Senior, Kettering, Ohio (Kettering Fairmont)  
 
Senior goalkeeper Rachel Gaines made three saves on Sunday to lock down her sixth shutout of 2019. The Kettering, Ohio native has worked with App State's backfield to blank opponents in six of Appalachian's seven wins this season. Gaines also made seven saves in Friday's 2-0 loss to Miami, facing 13 total shots throughout 60 minutes of action. The senior's 10 total saves this weekend helped her move past 400 saves in an App State uniform. Gaines has made 410 stops as a Mountaineer, which ranks sixth in program history. 
 
Katelyn Whittle, Ohio
MF, Freshman, Glenwood, Md.                     
 
Freshman Katelyn Whittle has been dynamic for the Bobcats to start off her collegiate career, scoring four goals three goals in her first seven collegiate games. Whittle tallied the only goal for Ohio in their 5-1 loss against Kent State. 
 
Lexi Silver, Miami      
Forward, Senior, Lake Bluff, Ill. (Lake Forest Academy)      
 
Senior forward Lexi Silver scored the game-winning goal against Appalachian State as Miami earned the 2-0 shutout to move to 2-0 in conference play. She scored her fourth goal of the season from the front of the cage during the 19th minute of play. Silver and the RedHawk offense outshot their opponents 24-9 on the weekend (16-5 SOG) and earned 14 penalty corners in two games as Miami shutout both Appalachian State and Davidson. Silver's four goals this season is tied for second on the team and tied for fifth in the conference.
 
Angel Nkosi, Ball State           
Midfield, Freshman, Pretoria, South Africa (St Mary's DSG)           
 
Angel Nkosi made a dominating offensive move late in the first quarter against the Chippewas to put Ball State on the board first. Nkosi found the back of the cage at the 12:53 mark to give Ball State the 1-0 lead over Central Michigan. The goal against CMU marked Nkosi's second of the season. She continued her strong offensive attack the remainder of the contest, as her build up play thru the midfield helped the Cardinals to generate attacking opportunities, resulting in a 2-0 victory for Ball State.
 
Michelle Taylor, Appalachian State University        
Forward, Senior, Virginia Beach, Va.
 
Senior Michelle Taylor notched her first goal of the season to boost App State to a 1-0 win over La Salle on Sunday. Sunday's win ties App State's win total from 2018, while it also helps the Mountaineers move to 4-0 over Atlantic 10 opponents this season. Taylor recorded two shots over the weekend, recording one against Miami before recording the game-winning goal in Sunday's triumph.
