Pedrick posted a 9.850 on the floor exercise in the final rotation as the Chippewas won the event, topping a strong field in its season-opening quad meet.

MAC Specialist of the Week
Anna Martucci, Northern Illinois, Senior
Senior Anna Martucci picked up where she left off a year ago in NIU’s season opener in a Quad Meet at Alabama. With a 9.800 on floor exercise, Martucci tied for second on the event. Her 9.8 was one of just two scores of 9.8 or higher on the day recorded by a gymnast on one of the three visiting teams. She and teammate Morgan Hooper (beam) were the only gymnasts from Temple, SEMO or NIU to place in the top two on any event.

Amanda Bartemio, Northern Illinois, Junior
Amanda Bartemio was solid on all three of her events as NIU took second place in a Quad Meet against No. 6 Alabama, Temple and Southeast Missouri at Alabama on Friday. Bartemio posted the Huskies’ second-highest score on bars with a 9.750 to take eighth and was third among all non-Alabama gymnasts. She had the Huskies’ third best score on floor that was fourth-best outside of the home team. Bartemio’s scores all contributed to the Huskies’ team total of 193.325.
