For the third straight weekend the University at Buffalo volleyball team has defeated a Big East program as the Bulls came back from a two-set deficit to defeat Butler, 3-2 on Saturday night. It was a good answer from the Bulls who fell to Arkansas 3-0 earlier in the day. UB is now 6-3 on the year following the win. The Bulls took the match over the Bulldogs 18-25, 22-25, 27-25, 25-16, 17-15 as the Bulls outhit Butler, .215 to .179. It was a breakout night for sophomore setter Tia Gleason, who had a career-high 53 assists to go along with 17 digs.

The Central Michigan volleyball team defeated host Indiana State to close out the Sycamore Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Chippewas defeated the Sycamores 17-25, 27-25, 25-20, 20-25, 16-14. With the win, CMU improved to 3-7 on the season.

The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team continued its winning ways in the Old Dominion State, sweeping both Savannah State University and the College of William and Mary to earn the title of champions of the Colonial Classic. Highlighting the day was senior Jordan Smith, who registered her 1,000th career kill in the first match against Savannah State. The outside hitter becomes the 15th member of the 1,000 kill club for EMU. She was named the Colonial Classic MVP, and was joined on the All-Tournament team by redshirt junior Cassie Haut.

The Ohio volleyball team (4-6) dominated at the net on its way to a 3-1 (25-15, 17-25, 25-17, 25-21) win over IUPUI (2-8) to wrap up the Bobcat Invitational presented by Texas Roadhouse today at the Convocation Center. With the victory over the Jaguars, the Bobcats clinched a share of their home tournament title after going 2-1 on the weekend. Samford and Virginia Tech also went 2-1 at the Bobcat Invitational. On Friday (Sept. 7), Ohio earned a hard-fought 3-2 (25-27, 24-26, 25-22, 27-25, 15-11) triumph over Samford yesterday morning but fell to Virginia Tech, 3-1 (24-26, 25-21, 25-21, 25-16), in the night cap.
