EVANSTON, Ill. – The Miami University field hockey team fell to No. 24 Boston University on Saturday by a 2-1 margin. The RedHawks drop to 3-4 on the season while the Terriers improve to 3-2.

Just two minutes into the game, the RedHawks earn the first penalty corner. Mariona Heras puts Miami on the board with her first goal of the season. Marie-Claire Görner and Estel Roig picked up the assists.

The Terriers would go on to earn the next four penalty corners of the game, having all three resulting shots blocked away from the net.

Miami earns another penalty corner with nine minutes to play in the first half, but the shot goes high.

Of the five total shots taken by both teams in the first half of play, the goal from Heras was the only shot on goal.

Boston University ties the game at one goal apiece only two minutes into the second half. The goal was tipped in on a penalty corner after Görner made a defensive save on the initial shot.

After Paula Portugal takes a shot that sails wide in the 45th minute of play, the Terriers take the ball the length of the field. Maddie Passarella makes a huge stop to keep the game tied.

The game's physicality increased on both sides as three yellow cards were handed out in a 10-minute span, beginning at the 40th minute of play.

After these yellow cards, Miami earns a penalty corner and takes the next two shots, but both are blocked before they reach the Boston University goal.

With less than five minutes remaining in a tied game, Passarella comes up with a pair of saves on a pair of Boston University penalty corners. The Terriers keep the pressure on and break the tie on a close-range rebound with three minutes to play.

Passarella made three saves. Portugal and Berlie led the RedHawks with two shots apiece.

Miami begins conference play at Ball State next Saturday at noon ET.
