Box Score
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Central Michigan field hockey team scored first, but could not maintain the lead on Monday as it fell to La Salle, 3-1, to conclude its weekend series with the Explorers.

The Chippewas slipped to 1-3. LaSalle is 3-0.

"It was a better first half than it was (Sunday)," said CMU coach Catherine Ostoich. "We came out and followed the game plan a lot better in the first half."

WHAT HAPPENED
The Chippewas scored first with a Cara Satre goal on an assist from Imogen West. The Explorers answered less than two minutes later to tie the game at one.

LaSalle went on to score shortly before halftime and then just after the break to seize a 3-1 lead, which would stand.

"It was awesome to see us get on the board first," Ostoich said. "Getting the first goal was really great and there are a lot of positives from the first half."

BY THE NUMBERS
Goalkeeper Lily Amadio had eight saves for CMU. La Salle had a 11-4 shots on goal advantage, and a 20-6 overall shot advantage. Five of six shots for the Chippewas were in the first half.

FIRST GOAL
Satre's goal was her first as a Chippewa. She is a sophomore from Davis, Calif.

MOVING FORWARD
"We need to work on the basics," Ostoich said. "We have to get our fundamentals down so we are not losing the ball when we have possession."

HOME OPENER
Central Michigan will host its first home game of the season when it entertains Pacific (3 p.m.) on Thursday and then welcomes Saint Francis (Pa.) on Friday (5 p.m.).
