The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team kicked off Mid-American Conference play with a trip to in-state rival Central Michigan University, topping the Chippewas 3-1 at McGuirk Arena. After falling in the opening set, EMU rallied to take its first win in MAC play, 23-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-21. Senior Jordan Smith was one of four Eagles to finish with double-digit kills, leading the Eagles' attack with 15. Redshirt junior Cassie Haut added 13 kills to go along with eight total blocks, while sophomore Franki Strefling registered a double-double of 11 kills and 13 digs. Junior Ariel Hamby had her fifth double-digit kill performance of the season, finishing with 11.?

Ohio 3, Kent State 1 // Box Score
The Ohio volleyball team (6-8, 1-0 MAC) opened up the Mid-American Conference portion of its 2018 schedule with a 3-1 (21-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-20) victory over East Division rival Kent State (7-8, 0-1 MAC) tonight at the Convocation Center. Redshirt senior outside hitter Jaime Kosiorek and junior outside hitter Lizzie Stephens both achieved double-doubles for the Bobcats. Kosiorek led the match with 14 kills and added 12 digs to go along with two service aces. Stephens logged 12 kills and 15 digs and matched freshman defensive specialist/setter Emily Walsh for the match lead with three service aces. Junior middle blocker Sara Januszewski hit a scorching .733 with 11 kills. Redshirt junior middle blocker Simone Miller racked up a career-high 11 blocks (three solo, eight assisted) to lead the match. Redshirt senior right side hitter Katie Nelson  totaled nine kills and six assisted blocks. Sophomore setter Vera Giacomazzi tallied a match-high 40 assists and chipped in four total blocks (one solo, four assisted). Sophomore libero/defensive specialist Macy Reihing led Ohio with 26 digs while junior libero defensive specialist Meredith Howe added 13 more.
