MAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week

Noah Heim, SIUE        

GK, Sophomore, Cambridge, Wisconsin                    
 
Heim was perfect in goal for SIUE in two huge wins over Big Ten opponent Wisconsin on Friday and No. 24 Grand Canyon on Sunday. He made two saves Friday against the Badgers and three saves Sunday against the Lopes. Heim also made several strong plays in goal, controlling the six-yard box allowing SIUE to maintain its perfect record at home. Heim has now gone 364:54 since being scored upon. Heim even found his way onto the score sheet Friday, picking up an assist on SIUE's last goal against the Badgers.

Donovan Michael helped Western Michigan break its three-game scoring drought as well as its four-game losing skid. At the University of Michigan on Friday, Michael scored his first collegiate goal, sparking a two-goal deficit comeback in which the Broncos eventually fell 3-2 in overtime versus the Maize & Blue. On Sunday, Michael set up WMU's first goal of the game with a nice cross into the box for this first collegiate assist, guiding Western Michigan to a 2-1 win over Drake University. 
 
Jan Maertins, Northern Illinois

NIU junior Jan Maertins scored the game-winning goal and recorded an assist as the Huskies recorded a 4-2 victory over Purdue Fort Wayne in its only game of the week. After tallying an assist on Anthony Markanich’s 13th minute goal, Maertins broke a 2-2 deadlock with his second goal of the season in the 27th minute as the Huskies matched last season’s win total with their third victory of the season. Maertins has tallied five points in as many matches this season.
