Kansas City, Mo. – On Tuesday the Mid-American Conference placed two teams in the top 15 of the 2018 United Soccer Coaches Pre-Season Poll.

The University of Akron men's soccer program will debut this season with a top-10 ranking as the United Soccer Coaches tabbed the Zips fourth overall.

Akron is set to return four starters in 2018, including senior goalkeeper Ben Lundt (Berlin, Germany), redshirt junior Skye Harter (Copley, Ohio), junior Marcel Zajac (Mississauga, Ontario) and sophomore Daniel Strachan(Lakewood, Ohio) from a squad that captured Mid-American Conference tournament title en route to advancing to the College Cup for the fifth time in program history on the strength of an overall record of 18-4-2 mark during the 2017 campaign.

Western Michigan will begin the season ranked 14th in the nation after finishing the 2017 season 17-4-1.

The Broncos won their first ever Mid-American Conference regular season championship last year, going a perfect 5-0-0 in conference play, and captured its first NCAA Tournament win over Albany before falling to Michigan State in the round of 16.

Western Michigan will be led by seven seniors in 2018, and will look to replace three starting players, two of which were MLS Draft selections, from last year's roster.
