Ball State // Butler Twilight
With a 5K time of 18:37.1, sophomore Cayla Eckenroth led the Ball State cross country team to the finish line at the Butler Twilight for the second straight season, placing eighth out of 67 runners Friday evening at Northview Church in Carmel, Indiana.

Bowling Green // Toledo Invitational
The first meet of the season for the Falcon cross country teams is in the books, creating nice momentum for both the men and women moving forward. The women were paced by Katerina Shuble who finished 14th with a time of 14:43.8 in the 4k. For the men, Noah Schaub led the way in the 6k, coming in second with a time of 18:46.4 with freshman Cesar Arellano placing not far behind in eighth with a time of 19:00.7.

Junior Caleb Covell was able to collect the individual victory on Friday evening in the men's 6K race as the University at Buffalo cross country teams opened their 2018 campaigns. The UB men were able to earn second place while the women's squad took home fourth place.

The Eastern Michigan University men's cross country team placed first at the Toledo Rockets Invitational Friday, Aug. 31 in Toledo, Ohio. Freshman Andy Payne (Worthington, Ohio-Thomas Worthington) paced the Eagles with a fourth-place finish, crossing the finish line in 18:54.6.

Northern Illinois // Huskie Challenge
Sophomore Noelle Maire (Belleville, Wis./Belleville) was the first to cross the finish line as the Northern Illinois University cross country team opened the season at the NIU Huskie Challenge on the North 40 Cross Country Course on Friday afternoon. Six Huskies finished in the top-nine as NIU comfortably won the team competition with a score of 22, UIC finished second with a team score of 46.

The Bobcat women completed the race with a total of 65 points. Ohio had scorers finish in the top 20 runners, led by senior Alyssa Atkinson (Granville, Ohio) who clocked a 14:31.1, red-shirt junior Madison Sury (Waterford, Ohio) 14:39.3, junior Melissa Koziol (Burton, Ohio) 14:41.9, senior Emily Deering (Geneva, Ohio) 14:49.2, and freshman Madelyn Bartolone (Massillon, Ohio) 14:53.3. in today's 4K race.

Toledo // Toledo Invitational
The Toledo women's cross country team started its season off strong at Friday's opening meet, clinching four of the top five positions. Leading the Rockets and finishing first was junior Athena Welsh. Welsh crossed the finish line with a time of 14:21.5 and was followed closely by freshman Claire Steigerwald (14:22.8). Right behind Welsh and Steigerwald were seniors Jennifer Lichter (14:23.9) and Petronela Simiuc (14:24.1).
