The 2018 season marks the third year for the Bowling Green football program under the direction of head coach Mike Jinks and the Falcons are anxious to return to championship form when the program participated in three straight MAC Football Championship Games from 2013-15. Last year Bowling Green finished the season with a 2-10 overall record, 2-6 in the MAC.

Jinks will have 38 letterwinners returning from last season, including 15 starters (6 offense, 7 defense, 2 specialists). Bowling Green will have a challenging non-conference schedule as the Falcons open the season with a road game at Pac-12’s Oregon on Sept. 1, before returning home to Doyt L. Perry Stadium to host Maryland from the Big Ten on Sept. 8. Bowling Green completes the non-conference portion of the schedule with a home game against Eastern Kentucky on Sept. 15 and a road game at Georgia Tech on Sept. 29.

The final month of last season provided optimism offensively for the Falcons as quarterback Jarret Doege started the final five games of the season and posted one of the two greatest statistical seasons by a true freshman quarterback in program history. Doege appeared in seven games and was 120-188 passing (63.8%) for 1,381 yards and 12 touchdowns, and he threw for at least 250 yards four times. Over the final four games of the season, he threw 11 touchdowns and just two interceptions. Doege's 63.8 percent completion percentage is the eighth-best single season in school history.

The offensive line features three returning starters as right tackle Austin Labus (12 games), right guard Jack Kramer (8 games) and left guard Lorenzo Taborn (7 games) will anchor the protection for Doege and the Falcons offense.  Senior wide receiver Scott Miller (63 receptions, 722 yards, 4 touchdowns) and junior wide receiver Janarvis Pough will be primary targets and sophomore running back Andrew Clair (725 yards, 4 touchdowns) will carry the load in the backfield.

Defensively senior linebacker Brandon Harris (92 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss) will be counted on to make plays, while senior defensive back Marcus Milton (60 tackles, 3 interceptions) and senior defensive back Fred Garth (95 tackles) will lead the Falcons secondary.
