KANSAS CITY, Mo
. – Kent State senior defender Paige Culver has been named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List as announced by United Soccer Coaches and Missouri Athletic Club Thursday (Aug. 9). The most prestigious individual award in college soccer is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year.

Culver became the program's second All-American a season ago when she was selected to the third team. She was a stalwart on the Golden Flashes' back row and was a leader of Kent State's defense that tied its program-record with 11 shutouts. In addition to being named an All-American, the Oakville, Ontario native was also named to the Scholar All-American First Team and garnered Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors. Throughout her career, Culver has been selected to the All-MAC First Team twice, All-MAC Second Team once, and is a two-time Academic All-MAC recipient.

A total of 45 players were named to the Women's Watch List, with 17 players earning All-America honors last season. The MAC Hermann Trophy Watch Lists are compiled by members of the United Soccer Coaches and NCAA Division I All-America Committees. Fifteen semifinalists will be named for both the men's and women's MAC Hermann Trophy near the end of the college season based on voting by NCAA Division I coaches. Three finalists will ultimately be placed on the ballot for the coveted award.

The Golden Flashes are coming off back-to-back MAC Championship campaigns and hold a 20-4-3 mark against conference opponents during that stretch.

Kent State hosts Duquesne in a scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 11 at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Dix Stadium. The Flashes begin the regular season hosting Butler on Thursday, Aug. 16 at 7 p.m.
