EUGENE, Oregon -
After one day of competition at the 2018 NCAA Track & Field Championships, the Mid-American Conference registered two first team All-Americans. Akron's Matt Ludwig (pole vault) and Jordan Latimer (long jump) each finished second in their respective events. Kent State's TJ Lawson currently sits 15th in the decathlon with five events to go.

Akron's Terrell McClain (long jump), Rodrigo Iglesias (javelin), Kent State's Riak Reese (100m) and Miami's Chris Torpy (1500m) each garnered All-American accolades for their championship performances.

The Championships resume Thursday at 1:00 pm with the decathlon's 110m hurdles. Semifinals of the women's running events are set for 7:00 pm, with field event finals beginning at 4:30 pm. Day two action will be live on ESPN3. A full broadcast schedule can be found here.

University of Akron redshirt junior Jordan Latimer (Huber Heights, Ohio) and junior Matt Ludwig (Chardon, Ohio) registered second-place performances in the men's long jump and pole vault, respectively, to spark the efforts of the Zips' track and field squad on the opening day of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Wednesday, June 6, at historic Hayward Field.

Hlynur Andresson, Eastern Michigan
Eastern Michigan University redshirt senior Hlynur Andresson (Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland-Mountain Ridge) concluded his career as an Eagle today, June 6, at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. The Iceland native competed in the 3000m steeplechase semifinals, but was unable to finish due to physical ailments.

Riak Reese sprinted his way to Second Team All-America honors and TJ Lawson is in position to secure a second consecutive national top-10 finish as the duo represented Kent State on Wednesday's opening day of the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Chris Torpy, Miami
Torpy stepped onto Historic Hayward Field against the top athletes in the country in the semifinal round of the 1500m. After sticking with the front pack for the first half of the race in his bid to advance to Friday’s national final, Torpy ultimately placed 11th in his heat (23rd overall) with a time of 3:55.74.
