BGSU's Good to Serve on National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
Bowling Green State University rising junior Ethan Good has been selected as the Mid-American Conference’s NCAA Student-Athlete Representative. Good, a member of the men’s basketball team, is replacing Kelsi White (Miami ‘17).
“Getting accepted to be the new NCAA Student-Athlete Representative is both a humbling and exciting experience. Becoming part of something much bigger than yourself has a tendency to do that to you,” said Good.
The mission of the NCAA Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by protecting student-athlete well-being, fostering a positive student-athlete image and inclusive student-athlete environment, and promoting student-athlete engagement at the national, conference and local levels.
“I am very excited to grow and learn from the people around me as I am given the privilege of representing student-athletes. While I've been on the COSA Executive Board, Kelsi has done an amazing job at updating others, representing student-athletes, and being so prepared. I will have some big shoes to fill but I am excited for the opportunity!”, said Good.
As a member of the Division I National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Good will assist with generating a voice for student-athletes within the NCAA structure. He will also assist with recommending NCAA legislation; reviewing, reacting and commenting to the governance structure on legislation, activities and subjects of interest; while actively participating in the administrative process of athletics programs and the NCAA; and work to promote a positive student-athlete image. Additionally, Good will serve on the Men’s Basketball Oversight Committee representing the student-athlete voice in his new role.
The Division I level generates the student-athlete voice within the NCAA by soliciting the response to proposed legislation.
“DI SAAC is at a crucial point right now, with issues from transfers, early recruiting, and the implementation of the recommendations of the Commission on College Basketball released last month,” says former MAC national rep, Kelsi White.
“Now more than ever the group needs a strong set of voices at the table for all of these pivotal discussions. DI SAAC is excited to have Ethan join the group not only as a strong voice for the MAC but for student-athletes across the country. Ethan will be an asset to this group. Not only does he have a much-needed insight into the world of men's basketball, but he has already proven to be a great leader with the MAC and will continue to showcase this at the national level. I am excited to see Ethan step into this role and play a part in enhancing the student-athlete voice at the highest level.”
