YPSILANTI, Mich. – Junior Amanda Akles' (La Habra, Calif-La Habra) two-run walk-off home run pushed the Eastern Michigan University softball team past Miami University, 6-4, Friday afternoon, April 6, at Varsity Field. Eastern Michigan (5-26, 1-7 MAC) overcame an early deficit behind a pair of homers off the bat of Akles to knock off Miami (13-15, 2-5 MAC) in the first game of the weekend series.

MUNCIE, Ind. – Kent State (18-14, 4-4 MAC) took the first game of the series over Ball State, 5-2, on Friday afternoon behind contributions from the entire lineup. Carlee Selle had the big blow of the game with a two-run home run in the fourth. Pitcher Madi Huck kept the Cardinals' bats off balance and pitched her way to a complete game win. The Cardinals (24-11, 6-2 MAC), who are second in the MAC West, won the second game of the doubleheader 15-7 in six innings.
